Excerpts Of Bush's Speech

The White House released the following excerpts of President Bush’s speech tonight via satellite to the Republican National Convention:

Read the whole thing here.

On Hurricane Gustav:

We are thankful that the damage in New Orleans and across the Gulf Coast was less than many had feared.

I commend the Governors of Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas for their sure-handed response and seamless coordination with the Federal government. I thank all of the wonderful volunteers who stepped forward to help their brothers and sisters in need.

On Senator McCain Being Prepared To Make the Hard Decisions That Fall Solely to the President:

John McCain’s life has prepared him to make those choices. He is ready to lead this Nation.

We live in a dangerous world. And we need a President who understands the lessons of September 11, 2001: that to protect America, we must stay on the offense, stop attacks before they happen, and not wait to be hit again. The man we need is John McCain.

On Senator McCain’s Courage and Vision:

John McCain’s life is a story of service above self.

John is an independent man who thinks for himself. He’s not afraid to tell you when he disagrees. ... No matter what the issue, this man is honest and speaks straight from the heart.

Last year, John McCain’s independence and character helped change history. The Democrats had taken control of Congress and were threatening to cut off funds for our troops. In the face of calls for retreat, I ordered a surge of forces into Iraq. Many in Congress said it had no chance of working. Yet one Senator above all had faith in our troops and the importance of their mission – and that was John McCain. Some told him that his early and consistent call for more troops would put his Presidential campaign at risk. He told them he would rather lose an election than see his country lose a war. That is the kind of courage and vision we need in our next Commander-in-Chief.

On Americans Choosing the McCain-Palin Ticket:

I am optimistic about our future, because I believe in the goodness and wisdom of the American people. I am optimistic because I have faith in freedom’s power to lift up all of God’s children and lead this world to a future of peace.

And I am optimistic about something else: When the debates have ended, and all the ads have run, and it is time to vote, Americans will look closely at the judgment, the experience, and the policies of the candidates – and they will cast their ballots for the McCain-Palin ticket.

McSame is going to wish he vetted her.

In a February interview with MTV, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin lavished praise on maverick Republican presidential contender Ron Paul.

She had a few nice things to say about another GOP candidate, Mitt Romney. But Palin made no mention of John McCain.

By the way she showed better judgement than McCain did supporting her. Ron Paul is 10 times the man McShame ever will be.

George W. Bush is a War Monger, he lied to all the American People about the threat of Nuclear and BioChemical Weapons of Mass Destruction from Saddam Hussein%u2019s Iraq.

Many, possibly half a million Iraqis have been killed, and/or displaced from their homes and families. The War (if you can call it a %u201Cwar%u201D) has cost the American People over $500 Billion Dollars barrowed from the Peoples Republic of China.

Bush has forced his own greedy agenda on the American People will soon be out of office taking the money and running away (possibly to Dubai with Richard Cheney). The American People need to hold the Republican Party responsible for the actions committed against our nation.

John McCain elected to the Presidency will serve as a cover for the Bush Administration and will only sustain the detrimental agenda and could possibly cost the American People more wars, money, solders and innocent citizens killed.

osamaobama played his "white guilt'''''''' rhetoric against Hill-arious and Bill Clinton and it worked as he fooled you liberals into believing his lies.

osamaobama can read a teleprompter like a great actor reading for a world audience, but when the debates start you''''''''ll see exactly what he is, a fool.

when John McCain wins in november we can heal the wounds within this country, but we cannot change racists like Rev. Wrong and terrorists like W. Ayers who have shaped this radical obama into the devider he really is.

The "angry left"? Who continues to act inappropriately and irresponsibly in response to 9-11? Who preaches punishment and revenge in their cold judgemental churches? Who is taking their anger out on the system of checks and balances in our government, on our legal system, on our free press, and on our civil liberties? Anger in this country has no left or right. We''re all pissed.

You have to be crazy or blind to believe anything our CURRENT president lets fall from his lips or better yet read the speech that was prepared for him to read. He started the war on terrorism to account for not completing anything he promised since his election into office. He has wasted the people''s dollar on non sense and has not focused on the real issues that affect his country. If you choose to vote for the McCain Palin ticket you will see that same. A man who may not live to complete his presidency and a woman who is not a true conservative , with 5 kids and a new grandchild on the way and from a daughter who will be a mother before even being able to vote or better yet obtain a higher education. This is like a soap opera. I know other countries are laughing at us..... If if McCain can not fulfill his duties than Palin will be Commander in Chief when she should be dedicated to her family and most importantly her children (four month old infant). Then again maybe she is what the american people need. She agrees with some of Obama''s issues if you look at history and since she is not a true conservative maybe she would shake things up a bit, BUT THEN AGAIN PEOPLE SHE IS SECOND IN COMMAND. OPEN YOUR EYES OR BETTER YET WELCOME TO HELL IF MCCAIN IS OUR NEXT PRESIDENT.

You sound like a bunch of winers...The American people voted George Bush in as President not once, but twice. I don''t agree with George Bush on many issues, but the American people voted him into office. So, I guess it is our own faults. All of you will continue to be the same way after President McCain is elected into office. A bunch of winers...

"We live in a dangerous world. And we need a President who understands the lessons of September 11, 2001: that to protect America, we must stay on the offense, stop attacks before they happen, and not wait to be hit again. The man we need is John McCain."

In short, continue the lie-based wars Bush started, against countries that were no threat, while letting Al CIAda off the hook on that for which they claimed responsibility.

"I ordered a surge of forces into Iraq. Many in Congress said it had no chance of working."

Because the goal was based on lies, it cannot "work", working at what?

"I am optimistic about our future,..."

Because you have escaped impeachment, for sure, but don''t relax too soon, I will use every means at my disposal to keep up the call for your arrest and trial for war crimes and treason.

I think the fact that Rwanda is stable now demonstrates that our strategy of cut-and-run helped clamp down on the violence.
