Obama Meets With T. Boone Pickens

(CBS)
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

(RENO, NEV.) Barack Obama met with oil tycoon, T. Boone Pickens, at a casino-resort this morning, where the two were expected to discuss energy policy. However, the photo op of the men, smiling and shaking hands, became a bit tense after a reporter asked Obama how it felt to be meeting with someone who “tore down” John Kerry in 2004.

“You know, he has a lot longer track record than that,” Obama said as he defended Pickens adding, “he’s a legendary entrepreneur and, you know, one of the things that I think we have to unify the country around is having an intelligent energy policy.”

There wasn’t a peep out of Pickens, though, who stood next to Obama and smiled awkwardly.

Pickens reportedly donated about $3 million to the “Swift Boat Vets for Truth” group, which funded the “swift boat” ads lambasting Kerry in 2004.

Pickens, who initially supported Rudy Giuliani’s candidacy, has has become a self-described “surprising environmentalist” and has not endorsed Obama or McCain.

The Obama campaign said Pickens initiated today’s meeting in Reno; Pickens met with John McCain last week.

I''m glad that there are still people around that will stand up for the little guy and help them find justice.

John Kerry owes a generation of Vietnam era servicemen not merely an apology for betraying them in time of war. He owes them his own exile in shame.

Hey, ragnar30066, it is remarkable that a little dweeb like you who probably never served your country a day in the military, would have the unmitigated gall to insult a genuine Vietnam veteran who served his country and served it well. Have you ever put your life on the line for your country? Why don''t you pack your bags, head on over to Iraq and see what real patriotism looks and feels like. Your comments are disgraceful and only a fool would make such utterly offensive remarks.

I can only stress the word "genuine" in your post.
Some other well-advertised military records are certainly less genuine ...

That''s right! We only support Republican troops and Veterans. If they don''t agree with us they can go to hell. And they should expect to have their service degraded and torn down. It is all meaningless unless you believe as Republicans do.

The audacity of John Kerry that he actually cared about the troops and has continued to give top priority to veterans for all these years.
He is a Democrat, tear him down and while you are at it, tear down all those who served with him.
And build up Corsi, an educated liar who wrote the swiftboat book, but was never in any military service.

Amazing the how the right wing propaganda machine was successful in portraying Kerry, who served in Vietnam, as unpatriotic, and Bush-boy, who avoided service by having Daddy get him into the Nat. Guard, as as super-patriot.

How much more evidence do you need that this the "One" with the right "character" and "values" that are truly American...?

John McCain instead has ran a lousy campaign staying away from the issues by focusing on young white girls like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.

The Republicans should be ashamed of their nominee.

Yes! An important point is that Americans recognized our need and demanded change and sought a President who could lead again, and drafted Obama to run. Obama is not calling for change, he is answering the call.
Posted by andor3 ================================

Please, let us get one thing absolutely clear....For about this, there can be no debate:

America did not "draft[] Obama to run."

The fascist who run the DNC disenfranchised a sufficient number of DemoTard lemming votes in the primary so they could use their secret "Super Delegate" network to install Sen. NObama.

We''ve seen this exact tactic used every time a dictator has ever come to power.

I have told you folks time and again, we are witnessing the Libtards doing exactly what they do best.....Working to destroy America as built, so they can implement the "CHANGE" they seek in rebuilding the NEW AMERICA....

The MARXIST AMERICA that all DemoTards dream of.

Yo whitewatermelon dude, it''s your boy who shows the world how he lacks the stones to go head to head in a townhall style debate with this feeble old man.

You know, a townhall style debate that favors the more experienced, quicker witted, and most American of the two??

Your boy can''t do a real time debate, simply because he''s a 50%-American at best, empty suit, who was installed by the fascist leadership of the DNC after they disenfranchised millions of votes in the primaries so their secret "Super Delegate" squad could do their bidding.

John McCain just wants some of that shining light to be shared with him and besides those "town hall" debates are just full of "swift boaters" and "flag pin" enthusiasts trying to make news.

You sound like one of the "bitter Hillary clingers" anyways...Just get over it and "move on" to the other side of the aisle where the "Republican Suicide Bombers" live.

And I remember those debates between Hillary and Obama and she got her butt kicked everytime. No one can hang with the "rhetorical skills" of Barrack Obama.

Ted Sampley, who fought with US Special Forces in Vietnam and is now a leading campaigner for veterans'' rights, said: ''I have been following John McCain''s career for nearly 20 years. I know him personally. There is something wrong with this guy and let me tell you what it is - deceit.

''When he came home and saw that Carol was not the beauty he left behind, he started running around on her almost right away. Everybody around him knew it.

''Eventually he met Cindy and she was young and beautiful and very wealthy. At that point McCain just dumped Carol for something he thought was better.

''This is a guy who makes such a big deal about his character. He has no character. He is a fake. If there was any character in that first marriage, it all belonged to Carol.''

One old friend of the McCains said: ''Carol always insists she is not bitter, but I think that''s a defence mechanism. She feels deeply in his debt because in return for her agreement to a divorce, he promised to pay for her medical care for the rest of her life.''

But Ross Perot, who paid her medical bills all those years ago, now believes that both Carol McCain and the American people have been taken in by a man who is unusually slick and cruel - even by the standards of modern politics.

''McCain is the classic opportunist. He%u2019s always reaching for attention and glory. After he came home, Carol walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona. And the rest is history.''
