GOP Tries Taking Air Out of Obama's Message

(CBS)
From CBS News' John Bentley:

(PHILADELPHIA) – The humor offensive against Barack Obama continues by John McCain and the Republican Party today.

On the flight from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia, McCain senior adviser Mark Salter handed out tire gauges to the press emblazoned with “Obama’s Energy Plan.”

(CBS)

It’s a jab McCain has been making over the past few days as a rebuttal to Barack Obama’s suggestion at a town hall in Springfield, Missouri, last week.

"There are things that you can do individually though to save energy; making sure your tires are properly inflated, simple thing, but we could save all the oil that they're talking about getting off drilling, if everybody was just inflating their tires and getting regular tune-ups,’ Obama said. “You could actually save just as much."

McCain counters that offshore drilling is necessary to counter the effects of rising energy costs. "We need oil drilling and we need it now offshore,’ McCain said last Friday. “The only thing I've heard him say is that we should inflate our tires. So he has no plan for addressing the energy challenges that we face.”

While Salter passed out the gauges out on the campaign plane, the Republican National Committee will be handing them out at Obama's energy speech this morning in Lansing, Michigan.

People who have voted Republican there whole lives dont want to vote for McCain, Me included. The actions of the RNC and the GOP this primary season has left us without a party. Last week McCains actions, and the GOPs actions, reaffirmed what I already thought, I just cant bring my self to vote for McCain. He seems like his age might be wearing on him a bit. The last thing we want is for McCain to end up a puppet., like hes already showing signs of. Did you see where that reporter stumped him and he just sat there not saying a word for like 2 minutes??? Unreal. Or the clip of him cussing, man what a potty mouth. LOL I think the video was at http://www.McCanes.com This election season is just one big dissapointment after another. The only that makes it worth watching is the candidates gaffs and antics. I thought that Obama was thinking about about adopting the tboonpickens plan? But Im reading now that he wants to open drilling in floridia. I think Obama should adopt the pickens plan, so should McCain. I read the article about Obama and the boone pickens plan at?? http://www.tboonpickens.com I cant figure out which one of these two Im voting for., Im hoping a third party candidate will surge so I can get behind another candidate other then these two. I would of Voted for Huckabee, Clinton, or Ron Paul. Geesh.
I think Paul is thinking about running on the LP ticket. http://www.BarrPaul08.com , My vote belongs to no one yet.
I might just keep it this year.

It%u2019s been the Republicans that have brought the United States into the energy situation we find ourselves in today. President Jimmy Carter launched an energy program back in the 1970%u2019s that was quickly overturned and reversed by Conservative Oil President Ronald Reagan. If the direction that President Carter would have not been changed we could%u2019ve been an energy independent, or close to it by now. Instead we find ourselves completely at the mercy of Exxon Oil and the Conservative Republican Party.

Americans need to hold tight on negotiating any further leasing agreements with the Big Oil Companies.

Question please:

If Obama spent 20 years in Wright''s hate-filled church, why is he running for President?

Hello people! Do your selves a favor and don''t fall for the negative, smear tactics on display by the McCain campaign. Learn the facts about what Sen. Obama''s policies are. Find his energy plan here:

Why would John McCain stoop so low as to have his goons disrupt one of Obama''s speeches. Barack''s people should buy a couple of thousand tire gauges and hand them out to the people listening to his speech.

You will be eating your words for the vain support you dished out for a person who knows nothing about everything and promises it to you with a smile.

Wow, I am more and more amazed with the level of stupdiity in this county for those who believe in fairy tales and handouts, and an empty minded unqualified candidate who had 2 failing years in the Senate.

Incredible stupidity.

Wow, this was really stupid by the Republicans. During debates, Americans will have hard evidence that Obama''s plan is more comprehensive than McCain''s.

When the tire gauges are shown after the debates, Americans will say I''ve had enough Bush tactics.

Speaking of 20 years of spewing hate%u2026Rush %u201Ccouldn%u2019t play sports%u201D Limbaugh has celebrated his anniversary last Friday. Limbaugh%u2019s Conservative wet dream for America has turned out to be a nightmare. The Conservatives have been allowed to do everything they wanted by the voters and that%u2019s the reason your standard of living has diminished.

Mattcat25 - You need to do some homework. Jimmy and the dems also told us that we are going to run out of oil worldwide in thirteen years. I grew up then when he plunged our economy into the depths of double digit everything. Life sucked then and if you dems control it all again, life will suck for us all again...with the the exception of the hollywood mouth pieces and the likes. It''s OUR country folks...think about what we are doing. A lot of you base your opinion on what you see on the nightly news. Listen to Rush, listen Air Amer, read and then find a middle ground

walt601, President Carter%u2019s renewable energy program was stopped by Ronald Reagan. The Conservative have been in bed with Big Oil and that''s the reason the US is paying for it now.

And, we will continue to be terrorized by Big Oil if John McCain is elected to a 3rd Bush term as President.

"Speaking of 20 years of spewing hate"

Reverend Wright, Obama''s mentor and "uncle" as he called him, is a staunch supporter of Farrahkan (gave him a lifetime achievement award).
Also...
Obama is a friend of Ayers, the unrepentant terrorist.

So why is Obama running for President?

mattcat25- It was a LIE to scare and control you. Regan corrected it. You can point fingers as to whom is in bed with whom. Libs are in bed with the unions, the eviromentalist,( who are the actual culprits of our situation. Check out what they are doing in San Diego and stopping a water de-sal project)hollywood and the media.

It was not a lie to have our government stimulate alternative energy. Today, in California they produce solar electric cells that are grossly shipped to Germany instead of being used in the US.

Carter only wanted 20 percent of our energy consumption to be assisted by renewable sources by the year 2000. We took the wrong course by changing this program and now have to play catch up, or in the case of further Conservative Oil Policy, never have a viable alternative energy infrastructure.

Obama addressed the Reverend Wright issue and stated that he didn%u2019t agree with him, and excused Wright%u2019s rant as from a person of a different generation.

What is Rush Limbaugh%u2019s excuse? Was he consistently thrown into trash cans in high school by gangs of street Liberals???

As for why Barack Obama is running for President of the United States the answers are on his web site.

"Obama addressed the Reverend Wright issue and stated that he didn%u2019t agree with him, and excused Wright%u2019s rant as from a person of a different generation."

Then Obama''s answer makes no sense, otherwise why did he stay at the church for 20 years, with his children even?

"What is Rush Limbaugh%u2019s excuse?"

Hey... Limbaugh ain''t running for President. Try to stay with me here.

Well... he can say whatever, but his ACTIONS noted above transcend his words.

The Reverend Wright (had) a respected community church that Barrack Obama wanted to be a part of. And, the Reverend Wright isn%u2019t running for President either so why keep attempting to bridge his generational produced sermon with the Democratic Presidential Candidate?

Rush Limbaugh couldn%u2019t play High school Baseball he was cut off the team, and his father was disappointed in him because he expected little Hudson %u201CRush%u201D Limbaugh to be a professional ball player. Limbaugh was too out of shape to even tryout for the football team, thus he%u2019s spent his entire life over-compensating for his lack of athletic prowess.

Limbaugh, thanks to Republican Corruption Revenues has been reported as shopping the idea to NFL Owners to allow him to make an offer to purchase the St. Louis Rams Franchise. Remember Rush%u2019s racists comments made against Philadelphia Quarterback Donavan McNabb? Limbaugh was completely out of place in an NFL Television Setting and resorted to his same old rhetoric.

If Limbaugh is able to purchase the Rams maybe somehow he%u2019ll find some sort of reconciliation for his past failures. If not, then he can go on his radio show and just blame the Liberals, the Media, and of course the Clintons!

Obama bridged his view with Wright''s view when Wright gave Farrakhan a "Lifetime Achievement Award" and Obama still stayed with the church. He even said later during the campaign "I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community."
Your man Obama clearly supports racist and anti-American activity. He is an absolute fraud.

Jake Tapper from ABC News Fact Checked inflated tires and determined that this would save 800,000 barrels of oil per day.

800,000 x 365 = 292,000,000 barrels of oil saved per year.

292,000,000 x 7 years = 2,044,000,000 barrels of oil saved before offshore drilling supplies one drop at the pump.

And much better for our planet too.

OBAMA speaks to the American people as though they were responsible, intelligent adults.
Clearly he has seriously misjudged on some of them.

Even if I took your word for the sake of argument and agreed that both parties have skeletons in the closet, AGAIN - these people are not running for President, your man Obama is, and his past reeks with improper and unpatriotic behavior. He is a fraud.
