McCain Gets Revved Up and Heads to Biker Rally

(CBS)
From CBS News' John Bentley:

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Peter Fonda in “Easy Rider.”

Evel Knievel jumping over the Snake River Canyon.

John McCain at Sturgis?

The presumptive Republican candidate hopes to add his name to the list of motorcycle icons when stops by the world’s largest biker rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, later today.

He will participate in the Buffalo Chip campground’s annual Tribute to American Veterans and Active Duty Servicemen this evening, speaking to the many veterans and soldiers that take part in the annual Sturgis Bike Week.

While McCain may not don leather chaps and hop on a hog, his Secret Service agents might, according to the campground owner.

"Some of the Secret Service agents are bikers and have come to the Chip over the years," Rod Woodruff told the Argus Leader. "One of the agents yesterday told me he rode his Harley out in 1996, 2002 and 2004. He heard McCain was going to be here, and he immediately volunteered to be on staff for this event."

Maybe he can convince the candidate to go for a spin, or at least ride along in the sidecar.

On a funnier note, the comedy website 236.com had a really great feature/photo gallery about McCain in Sturgis: http://www.236.com/news/2008/08/05/mccain_goes_to_sturgis_because_8135.php

McBush will need a box to stand on in order to get on a bike.

Obama would be the first Black President while McBush would be the first midget president!

Did McCain enter his precious wife in the "Fake ***" contest? Or the "Pickle Licking" contest?

WOW.... Just try and imagine for one second if Obama showed up at one of these events. I hope that Obama sent a camera crew to cover this debauchery..... Mainstream media wouldn''t show this.... What a great ad this would make.

Ah, yes, now that he''s locked in the Wurst Haus sausage-lovers'' vote, he''s going after the coveted biker demographic. Obama, eat your heart out!

once again McCain shows ignorance of issues affecting Americans. His own supporters support tire pressure as a means to save gas:
"And while the McCain team is busy amusing themselves, the fact is that the idea they%u2019re attacking is supported by, among others, top McCain surrogate Joe Lieberman, conference call host Mike Rogers, Governors Charlie Crist and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Department of Energy, and NASCAR%u2014all of whom have urged Americans to help save energy by minding tire pressure," says spokesman Hari Sevugan in an email. "But hey, who ever let the facts%u2014or supporters%u2019 positions%u2014get in the way of a political attack? Aboard the Low Road Express, that%u2019s no problem at all."

I wonder if he''ll sample the favorite local culinary treat and munch on some Buffalo chips?

Nah, he''s too full of it already.

Doggonnit, if I''d known our next President was going to be at Sturgis I''d have gone with my wife''s boss when he invited.

I know he''ll be there shaking hands with President McCain for sure.

McCain will love his visit to the Buffalo Chip. He''s scheduled to appear from 7:30pm to 8:45pm. Happy hour ($1 drafts) runs from 9am to 5pm. The Miss Buffalo Chip Beauty Pageant (bikinis and lingerie, but essentially topless) begins at 5:30pm, with a second show at 8:15pm, sharing the same stage with McCain. And the well-lubricated "Ringin%u2019 Wet & Wild" women wrestlers start at 7pm on the main stage.
I live just 200 miles from Sturgis. Perhaps I''ll drive over there today and see my next President.
