New Obama Ad Hits Back At McCain

Barack Obama's campaign has released a new ad, "Old Politics." It is a response to to John McCain's recent spot "Pump," which blamed Obama for high gas prices. As USA Today notes, the spot will air in 10 swing states: Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and New Hampshire.

The new ad shows a bit of the "Pump" spot as an exasperated-sounding announcer asks viewers if they've seen McCain's ad, which was widely criticized for laying the blame for high gas prices solely at Obama's feet.

“John McCain is blaming Barack Obama for gas prices?," the announcer says. "The same old politics. Barack Obama thinks high gas prices deserve serious answers and a serious plan. Crack down on oil speculators. Raise mileage standards. And fast track alternative fuels.”

Right. Senator Obama will have to stay on message and stomp on the liars and lies that the republican media will gleefully announce just like they always have.

The entire free market is speculative. People are already buying cars with higher mileage without waiting for a govt. mandate. And there''s no such thing as fast tracking alternatives. We need more oil and we need it NOW. THat''s the real and immediate answer.

Yes, we need more oil!! Give us our fix -- that''ll help. Sounds like another brilliant Republican. Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago??? I doubt it unless you are a billionaire, a Bush, a Cheney, Halliburton or a Saudi. Does anyone understand how the Saudis drove planes into the WTC and then we go off and attack Iraq? Now Saudis reap some of the largest transfer of wealth in modern times due to our war on terror. I guess terrorism does pay!

Get ahold of yourself! Republicans want this mess. We could be using alternative fuels, but then the oil stocks Bush ownes would be worthless. wake up!

Bill Clinton hates Obama.
Jesse Jackson hates Obama.
Al Sharpton hates Obama.
Women hate Obama.
Jews hate Obama.
Hispanics hate Obama.
White Americans hate Obama.

Except for a few cult like followers, people generally hate Obama. Obama seems to bring out the worst in people with his huge ego and arrogance.

On Election Day, many people are going to cast their vote for McCain because they believe in him, but many others will vote for McCain simply because they just can''t take the idea of Obama in the White House.

A muslim in the White House??? Can anyone accept that???

The Obama speech actually reveals an even more naive view of the world than we had previously been treated to in the United States. His speech was truly radical, from an American perspective.
First, urging greater U.S.-European cooperation, Obama said, "The burdens of global citizenship continue to bind us together." Having earlier proclaimed himself "a fellow citizen of the world" Obama explained that the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Europe proved "that there is no challenge too great for a world that stands as one." Perhaps Obama needs a remedial course in Cold War history, but the Berlin Wall most certainly did not come down because "the world stood as one."

The wall fell because of a decades-long, existential struggle against one of the greatest totalitarian ideologies mankind has ever faced. It was a struggle in which strong and determined U.S. leadership was constantly questioned, both in Europe and by the senator''s own Democratic Party. The successes Obama refers to in his speech -- the defeat of Nazism, the Berlin airlift and the collapse of communism -- were all gained by strong alliances defeating determined opponents of freedom, not by "one-worldism."

But beyond the incoherence, there is a deeper problem, namely that "walls" exist not simply because of a lack of understanding about who is on the other side but because there are true differences in values and interests that lead to human conflict.

Keep drinking the oil kool aid.Haven''t we learned anything from the last 30 years? It''s clearly time to focus our energies on a non-oil based economy.Let''s take the pain now so that we are free of OPEC down the road.

You all are scaring me. Get a grip, friends, the Ol''''mighty Obama will self destruct right before your eyes, so get ready. Change to Obama is changing the USA, now why would you want to change the best country in the world?? If you are not happy here you are free to move about the universe. Oil is our main issue- if we don''t drill we remain dependant, just like the liberals prefer so they can take care of you. That''s right- you are all children that need taking care of.

I know this may be beside the point, but speculation is hardly hurting the situation. I disagree with Obama''s position on this....
