Romney Won't Seek Donations To Repay $45 Million "Loan"

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney won't try to acquire donations to repay the $45 million in loans he made to his unsuccessful presidential campaign, The Boston Globe reports. Romney intends to send a letter to the Federal Election Committee that explains he will "forgive the outstanding loans."

"Mitt Romney's priority right now is raising money for other Republicans and not trying to recoup the money he put into his own race," Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom told CBSNews.com.

While not unexpected, the move could help heal any remaining wounds from the bruising primary battle Romney had with presumptive GOP nominee John McCain by demonstrating that Romney has no intention of asking McCain to help him recover some of his debt.

Romney has become a highly active surrogate for his former rival, leading to speculation that he is on the short list of potential McCain running mates. He currently sits atop the CBSNews.com VP Hot Sheet.

Romney is in Washington, D.C., today, raising money for his Free And Strong America PAC, which supports Republican candidates, including McCain. The Michigan native plans to spend some rare downtime with his family next week at his vacation home on Lake Huron.

We can only hope McCain picks Romney, dies of old age in his first year, then we will have a real commander with some actual savy economic acumen in office.

Or Obama could win and we will all be socialists with very little financial possibilities.

I think McCain will pick Romney as VP. It certainly won''t be the first time he gloms onto a wealthy, politically connected person who can help his career.

I agree that if Obama wins the national debt will skyrocket and we will see the biggest change of financial power in history. And I will be writing an article shortly for discussion. Read more at a href="http://www.specialreport.com" Special Report /a

Wow- there you have it. This shill is out of the closet. Pro Monarchy and hates Americans. See, this is what the Repugs really think about you- They think you are too stupid to think for yourselves. they think that you need a good strong King to tell you how to live your lives and what to do. they simply think of you as cheap labor. If only they could stop you from voting. Oh yeah- they are working on that too- Poll taxes and literacy tests are next. They believe as did the Federalists of the late 18th century that only property owners should vote.

If Obama wins watch as the national debty skyrockets

You absolutely MUST be kidding! Bushwhacker came into office with a budget surplus. He is leaving with huge deficit- one that he and 6 YEARS of Repug Congress (INCLUDING McCAIN) presided over. Don''t forget the National Debt is 9.5 TRILLION DOLLARS. Gee- Can you guess where MOST of that came from - GW Bushit. Give Americans an f''in break. McCain is McSame- More tax breaks for the rich. Less for the average American. Broken government for all.

Don''t forget shredding the Constitution. Good ol'' flip-flop McCain sure showed how much he thinks of our Bill of Rights. Just another thing to step on on his way to the Oval Office.

The same article you tried to fob off as being pro-Romoney was actually quite critical. It made clear that his claims of good stewardship were exaggerations or outright lies. Even the conservative was quoted as saying Romoney exaggerates.

Sorry (well not really) it conflicts with your wishful thinking. MA is now struggling with the hangover from Romoney''s tax giveaway to the rich and friends-of-Romoney, especially deficits and slow job growth.

Just like Bush/McCain- Cut taxes on the rich, talk a big game about tax relief to the middle class (and do little to nothing), and get out of dodge before the impact of your policies really hits the average American. Bush''s only mistake was hanging around too long. Give Romoney credit for leaving just in time.

Romney balanced a 3 BILLION $ debt and brought working jobs back. PERIOD. Don''t spin the simple facts.

Also, the NYT article goes on to illustrate how bad the state has been managaed SINCE Romney left. It fell apart AFTER he left when democratic leadership undid all of the underpinnings and therefore undermined the progress he had made. Shill indeed.

So you''re a bigger fan of Obama borrowing money from China to give all of the poor people in the black ghetto free money?

Tell the government to GET OUT OF THE WAY for those of us who have free wills and independent minds.

Less government and fiscal conservatisism is the ONLY way to claw our way out of this abyss we''ve landed in. At least Romney knows how to balance a budget. Don''t diminish his accomplishments in Mass. Economically, there isn''t even a consideration between Romney and Obama. Don''t dilude yourselves.

If Obama wins watch as the national debty skyrockets and the welfare state encompasses every last financial slacker that
looks to the government for saftey net hand-outs.

Americans are becoming zoo animals. We''ve forgotton how to get our own in the "wild" because Obama the zoo-Keeper and his kind always come around on schedule with our plates of free, socialist aid. Do I exaggerate? Think about it.

Give me Mitt King Midas Romney any day over this angry kid from Chicago.

RO-MONEY cut taxes in MA, and that is about all he did. What he REALLY DID was cut taxes for the wealthy and then get the heck out of dodge before people could realize that he left the state with a HUGE budget deficit. SOUND FAMILIAR (Bush)?

He took the playbook right out of McCain/Bush- cut taxes for the wealthy and leave a HUGE BUDGET DEFICIT. But these rich profiteers do not care about destroying the government. They don''t need it. They got their money and ran. So what if the economy is tanking and people are LOSING THEIR JOBS AND HOMES? Things look JUST FINE from their gated communities with their illegal aliens taking care of the grounds.

"theswedes" showed you only PART of the ROMNEY article (typical shill)- even the repugs in the state said he overstated his accomplishments:

Here''s some more of the NYT Article:

But some in Massachusetts question how healthy the state%u2019s economic and fiscal condition actually is. Unemployment is still relatively high, and the new governor... is grappling with a budget gap of $1.3 billion. And some economic analysts say Mr. Romney has exaggerated some of his successes or taken credit for improvements that had more to do with national trends.

%u201CWhen he talks about a turnaround, we really haven%u2019t had a turnaround,%u201D said Michael J. Widmer, president of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, a nonpartisan organization that analyzes state economic policies. %u201CWe had a temporary fiscal respite. But we%u2019re trailing the nation in job growth. Our job growth has been anemic.%u201D

David G. Tuerck, executive director of the Beacon Hill Institute, which describes itself as a %u201Cfree-market think tank%u201D and is considered to be on the conservative end of the spectrum, said ... %u201CI think that Romney probably inflated accomplishments. I think he got carried away with himself when he started talking about the surpluses that he was able to engineer.%u201D

So RO-MONEY is a liar and an exaggerator. Go figure.

He won''t bother trying to get it back because he''s so d*nmed rich. Nothing to do with principles (something the Repugs left behind long ago). It is everything to do with the fact that $45M is a drop in the bucket for Ro-money. If Romoney and the rest of the Fat Cats who own the Repug Party get McBush back in, then ROMONEY WILL GET IT BACK TWICE OVER- You will see more TAX BREAKS for the WEALTHY and MORE GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS TO THEIR COMPANIES.

I''m sure Romoney sees it as just another investment- sure to PAY OFF if he can get his buddies back into the White House.

Wake UP America! These people are NOT ON YOUR SIDE. They talk their propaganda and you''ve been buying it since 1980. These NeorepubliCONS are all about BIG MONEY- the wealthy and their corporations. Profiteers in war and commerce-- and they laughing at you all the way to the bank.

In a recent strategery session, our president suggested McCain select Romney because 1) he wants to drill in ANWAR, and Burmese can''t vote for president and 2) by choosing Romney, the black Mormon vote will be split.
God Bless Dubya.

Romney is NOT a spender. Look what he did for the Massachussetts economy:

THE NEW YORK TIMES:

ARTICLE: Romney Candidacy Puts Massachusetts Economy in Spotlight By PAM BELLUCK

BOSTON, March 14 %u2014 "When Mitt Romney became governor of Massachusetts in 2003, the state had a budget gap of almost $3 billion and was losing thousands of jobs a month.

In Mr. Romney%u2019s four-year tenure, the deficit was eliminated without raising the sales tax or the income tax, and since the labor slump hit bottom in December 2003, the state has gained 81,000 jobs.

As Mr. Romney seeks the Republican presidential nomination, his fiscal and economic achievements are central elements of his campaign. His first television commercial calls him %u201Cthe Republican governor who turned around a Democratic state.%u201D"

That''s the differance between the Republicans and Democrats. The Republicans stand on their own two feet and are self respecting.
