Bayh, Nunn Talk About Being Potential Obama Running Mate

(CBS)
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

(WEST LAFAYETTE, IND.) Neither Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., nor former Sen. Sam Nunn, D-Ga., would confirm that they were being vetted by Barack Obama’s vice presidential search committee, but both men said they would honored to serve.

At a joint press conference, Bayh clearly dominated the question-and-answer session, standing at the podium the entire time while Nunn casually stood next to him. But when questions about being Obama’s running mate were asked, Bayh became more guarded.

“It’s good for my ego, but I should probably let Senator Obama and his campaign address those kinds of questions.”

Nunn said he is not “pining to go back into public office,” adding that he would have to figure out if the job was good fit for him.

“I never aspired to that office,” Nunn said, “It’s always nice to have your name mentioned, it’s an honor, but I have no expectations of being offered any office.”

Both men touted Obama’s national security credentials, saying that he does not necessarily need to pick a running mate with strong foreign policy skills.

“I personally think his credentials in that are strong on their own,” Bayh said.

Nunn added, “I think he’s right on the button in terms of his approach to national security and foreign policy.”

Bayh, who supported Hillary Clinton during the primary, pledged to support Obama in the general election, saying “the race is between Barack Obama and John McCain and in that contest the choice is clear.”

When asked if either Bayh or Nunn had taken themselves our out of the running for V.P., Bayh joked, “I’ve got a plane I’ve gotta catch.”

I am still waiting to hear the names of the 47 lobbyists working for Obama. Lobbyists are not "funding" the DNC, one Lobbyist is "heading" the fund raising. If you read real slow, you might be able to tell the difference.

Just taking the services of lobbyists is OK, though right? Since Obama has at least 47 of them on his campaign team!

I guess they''''re just working for FREE, right?

Where are your reading skills? Using a lobbiest to head a fundraising campaign is not the same as taking money from lobbiests.
Obama has shown he does have power over the Democratic National Committee, when he changed the rules to eliminate any donations from registered lobbiests.

Nice try though, trying to slip this one through the low information voters.

As the New York Times reports, the man being tapped by the DNC to head the fundraising for their national convention is well connected lobbyist Steve Farber.

Look, Bush selected Cheney and we have some the worst national security and foreign policy blunders. First, 9/11 wouldn''t have happened had Condi Rice did her fricking job. Second, Cheney was the one who got us into this war with over $400 billion, 4,119 great Americans gave up their lives, and over 10,000 Americans were severely injured. The Bush-Cheney-McCain still haven''t found Osama Bin Laden. I think Cheney''s selection shows how unimportant a running mate with many years of Washington "experience" matters. Thus, I think Mr. Obama does NOT require a Washington, foreign policy expert. For the reasons mentioned, I think he needs an outsider who like himself is intelligent, able to reach across party lines, and build great teams. That person is none other than Governor Kathleen Sebelius.

The leftists of the nutroots went gaga when Barack Obama claimed that he''d stand against taking money from lobbyists with his campaign for president. It was because, of course, he was for a "new era" in politics. He is for "change." Isn''t he special, the nutrooters sigh contentedly.

Well, apparently Obama''s standard of a "new age" in politics doesn''t carry too far into his campaign. Obviously Barack Obama has no real power over the Party from which he claims to head because the Democratic National Convention is being funded by... you guessed it... lobbyists.
