Obama Says Dependency on Foreign Oil Poses Terrorist Threat to U.S.

(CBS)
(DAYTON, OHIO) Barack Obama used a little bit of fear today to get his point across of the dangers of U.S. dependency on foreign oil.
“The price of a barrel of oil is now one of the most dangerous weapons in the world,” he said at a town hall meeting on energy security.
As the price of crude oil crept to $144.17 a barrel today, Obama said hostile nations could use oil profits to fund terrorism.
“The nearly $700 million a day we send to unstable or hostile nations also funds both sides of the war on terror, paying for everything from the madrassas that plant the seeds of terror in young minds to the bombs that go off in Baghdad and Kabul,” Obama said. “Our oil addiction even presents a target for Osama bin Laden, who has told al Qaeda, “focus your operations on oil, since this will cause [the Americans] to die off on their own.”
Obama blamed the energy crisis, in part, on John McCain, calling on him to “look in the mirror” and acknowledge the failed policies. He said McCain blames Washington for the failed energy policies, adding that he agrees but, “the only problem is that out of those thirty years, Sen. McCain was one of those politicians in Washington for twenty-six. And during the 26 years that he was there he’s achieved little to help reduce our dependence on foreign oil.”
The McCain campaign quickly fired back in a written statement, “The difference is Obama’s ‘Dr. No’ approach believes that every energy source has a problem and John McCain believes that every energy source can be part of the solution Americans need right now.”
asking if you like the boone plan or not and asking if you think Obama should addopt Boones Plan. I just went recently and Looked at Boones Plan. If you havnt went and taken a look at Boon''s Plan you can go to http://www.tboonpicket.com
Our Economy Cant take much more, we need solutions.
Hardly a stunning revelation.
We''ve been bending over and assuming the position for the Sauds - those jolly exporters of Wahabism and funders of masadras - for decades now. That the Sauds are our "friends" is a joke for the ages.
We NEED five-dollar gas to wake us all up before it''s too late.

I think you meant "100 New Refineries" 100 new EXXON Stations have been build in my city :)
I have blogged this simple truth for years!, oil has been used as a weapon and has the same effect as a suicide bomber, constantly raising prices without warning, ruining businesses and altering lifestyles in a relentless destructive out of control manner. Irresponsible and unbelievable all at the same time, but the U.S. deserves it because the U.S. knew the dangers of being dependent on foreign oil and saw the negative effects of it over 30 years ago during the Arab oil embargo.
That reminds me, the press missed the one yesterday about Obama saying that kids should learn to speak Spanish and that he''''s ashamed that most American''''s can only speak one language? There they go with that being ashamed of America again. Too bad he wasn''''t ashamed when his minister shouted, "GOD DAAAAAAM AMERICA",
......Oh yeh, and the issue of Obama''''s patriotism.....look for it to come back, big time.

I agree with Sen. Obama''s main point, and that is learning foreign languages is educational and a good thing, especially for Police and First Responders who service diverse communities. If a community a professional services speaks a certain language its a plus for that professional to be familiar with that language. The key point is that learning a foreign language is not mandatory, only optional, as long as no one is being forced to learn a foreign language there is nothing wrong with suggesting Americans know more foreign languages. It was only advice and a suggestion, not a requirement or Law!

- Sounds like Obama has now found a platform so he can actually speak about something. All he has to do is repeat what John McCain says. WALLLAW!
