Obama Discusses bin Laden Capture

(CBS)
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

WASHINGTON – After hosting his first meeting with his Senior Working Group on National Security today, Barack Obama told reporters that captured terrorists should be dealt with according to international law.

In a response to a question on how he would handle the capture of Osama bin Laden, Obama said, “One of the hallmarks, one of the high water points, I think, of US foreign policy, was the Nuremburg Trials because the world had not seen before victors behave in ways that advanced a set of universal principles. And that set a tone for post-war reconstruction and creation of an international order that I think was extraordinarily important.”

Although Obama would not speculate on how he would bring bin Laden to justice, he said it is important not to make him into a martyr.

“I think what would be important would be for us to do it in a way that allows the entire world to understand the murderous acts that he's engaged in and not to make him into a martyr and to sure that the United States government is abiding by the basic conventions that would strengthen our hand in the broader battle against terrorism,” he said.

In recent days, John McCain’s senior advisors have portrayed Obama’s policy on dealing with captured terrorists as “naïve” and “delusional.” McCain foreign policy advisor, Randy Scheunemann described Obama as “the perfect manifestation of the Sept. 10 mindset."

Although Obama did not respond to these comments specifically, he told reporters that the McCain campaign is using fear to win elections.

“I think it's my impression that John McCain has adopted not only George Bush's policies but George Bush's playbook,” he said.

I think that by saying don''t make him a martyr, Obama has already said what he would do. If we put Bin Laden in jail, we are giving him a better life than he had on the run. I also don''t think he should be placated. I really question if Obama has the ethical fiber to stand up to the security issues. This statement to me reflects he is soft.

His true colors as an American who believes in the rule of law, as all real Americans do. Our laws and our Constitution are stronger the the lunatic right wing GOP gives them credit for. They''re certainly stronger the Bin Laden.

Caught Muslim terrorists claim they want martyrdom (cuz it will incite other radicals to follow their example).

The way to beat them at their game is to convict and kill them quietly, without any media coverage. That would be perfect.

When we caught Sadam we let him go on trial. Then we hung him. Whats wrong with that? Put the man on trial, Humiliate him and let the world see how we let even the most evil person have their day in court. Then we hang them.

A couple of months before 911, bin Laden was in an American Hospital in Dubai for kidney treatment. Let''s talk about the "true allegience" of the people who let 911 happen.

Giuliani has among his friends people from Qatar who harbored KSM.
Let''s talk about his "true allegience".

As for bin Laden himself, given his health problems, he is probably only alive in the right-wing minds
who want to use him for scaring the people to vote for them.

Would someone find out why Obama never discusses his father being a Muslim.
Why doesn''t someone ask him why Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan had a rally with over 20000 worshipers support Obama.
Obama needs a heck of lot of explaining to do or are we going to let this man keep lying to the American people because we''re afraid to ask.
Obama is not a nice man and has many evil friends.
He''s scary.

Obama has noted in his two books, "Dreams From My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope," that he spent two years in a Muslim school and another two years in a Catholic school while living in Indonesia from age 6 to 10.

Obama has been under the wing of Reverend Wright and his antiAMerican views for twenty years.

His father was a Muslim and his name is Barack Hussein Obama.

Please explain how this man can run for President.

He is not qualified and is a con.
When are we going to wake up

Obama spoke about 57 states in one of his stump speeches.
there are 57 states in the Nation of Islam.
It wasn''t a mistake.
It was a fact.
Obama has a Muslim father and we should be investigating every one of his words.
Please stop thinking this guy is so sweet and loving.
He is just an empty suit and is playing with the American people.
Keep investigating him: he''s scary.

McCain needs to say this to Obama during a debate: Drilling for more oil is part of the solution, along with increase fuel standards, increased Nuclear power plants, and increased wind and solar generation facilities. Senator Obama is wrong to say no to more drilling. Voting against more drilling is cutting off our nose to spite our face...and Senator Obama is the surgeon...and I thought he was a lawyer. The McCain camp is free to use that or hire me for more zingers.

With the Supreme Court ruling on habeus corpus, it would be better for all military personnel to let their Afghani or Pakistani counterparts to take him out. This way there will be no issue.

Apparently as of last night Effendi Snob-oma''s foreign policy will be a take from Winnie the Pooh problem solving.

Obama is right. Why provide the terrrorists with another martyr to rally around. Imprison OBL in Southern Arizona making little stones out of big rocks 12 hours a day. Show the video to the terrorists and let them know what is in sotre for them if the don''t get their 72 virgins.

Who cares if OBL is a maryter. He killed 3000 americans. If he is in prison you will see his followers capture/kill americans on videotape demanding his release.

The fact is, Obama is a liberal wimp who wants to treat these terrorists with kid gloves.

He mentions tha OBL is still alive for political purposes, but seems to forget that numbers 3 - 10 on the terrorist list are dead or captured...one of which is being held in the very prison he wants to close.

I agree, if these subjects are defined as Enemy Combatants of War, they should be terminated in the field without further wherehousing at Club Gitmo. I don%u2019t understand why the Bush Administration sees the need to collect hold all these inmates. And, besides DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES%u2026.

Osama Bin Laden is the responsible party to the WTC 911 Attack. George W. Bush and the War Mongering Republican Party has used the threat from one Wealthy Saudi Citizen to implement their War Economy Agenda. I also feel that the stock piling of inmates at Club Gitmo is also in an effort for Bush to show and sustain his war on terror and the continuation of diverting Federal Treasury Funds.

Why else is he holding these subjects?
And, when is he going to apprehend or eliminate Bin Laden?

Bin Laden has been left off the hook by the Republican Bush Administration for his planning, financing, and implementing of the WTC 911 attack. Bush also allowed several Saudi Citizens and Royal Family Members to flee the United States shortly after the 911 grounding of all flights over US air space.

There''s only one way to bring Bin Laden to justice without making him a martyr. As it should have been -from the day after 9/11-The Saudi Government should have stepped forward with this responsiblity-WHY?--Well let''s think-hmm-home of the holy Islamic cities on Mecca and Medina.,bithplace of Islam.A Radical threat to Islam(Bin Laden) who uses Islam as a terrorist tool. Most of the 9/11 terrorist were Saudis.Who better to bring Bin Laden to justice then the Saudis? For crimes against Islam! Are not the Saudis -the protectors of Islam?-He would not be a martyr if brought to justice in this manner AND the Saudis would go a long way in improving International Relations-Where HAVE the Saudis been in THEIR search for Bin Laden?

Malik Obama confirms his half-brother Barack grew up a Muslim

Apparently the Obamas of Kenya have no doubt -- contrary to the claims of the Obama campaign, that the presidential candidate was raised a Moslem. They take that as a given.
"Barack Obama''''s half brother Malik said Thursday that if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background. In an interview with Army Radio he expressed a special salutation from the Obamas of Kenya."

Obama Sides With Radical Islamists

The magnitude of difference between the two candidates running in our presidential election could not be more stark! After reading the statements of both Obama and McCain regarding the horrible Supreme Court 5-4 decision to allow Gitmo detainees the right to be tried in civilian courts, we can clearly see what a flawed, unfortunate, and terrible direction Obama would take this country if [God forbid!!]elected in November.

Obama''s statement:

Barack Obama statement on the Supreme Court''s 5-4 decision today extending civilian legal protections to terrorist suspects held in Guantanamo Bay:

Um...er...earth to Obama? Foreign terrorists caught in battle against our forces during war have never been eligible for "habeas corpus"! They are not covered by the Constitution of the United States of America. So...what "rule of law" are you referring to?

Obama Jr. Says ''''Not Yet''''

http://www.usvetdsp.com/jan08/obama_lou%20tribe.htm

Just one day before the Jan. 3, 2008 Iowa caucus, Sen. Barack Hussein Obama Jr. (D-Ill.), who is aiming to be America''''''''s first African-American president, found himself taping a message from Iowa to Kenya for broadcast on the Voice of America.

Kenya, the homeland Obama Jr''''s family''''s Luo tribe, burst into post-election violence after Raila Odinga, a fiery Luo tribe opposition leader and Kenya presidential candidate, alleged the Dec. 27 voting that re-elected President Mwai Kibaki of the Kikuyu tribe was rigged

More than 360 people were killed and over 250,000 displaced provoking a humanitarian crisis in a country previously considered a stable pillar in east Africa.

Obama has explicitly said that he doesn''t oppose capital punishment for Bin Laden. In July of 2007, he said (via Nexis) that after a trial that observed ''international standards of due process,'' Bin Laden would qualify for execution.

''At that point, do I think that somebody who killed 3,000 Americans qualifies as someone who has perpetrated heinous crimes, and would qualify for the death penalty? Then yes,'' Obama said.

Sir you must research the curriculum of the political studies departments of most Ivy League schools, from where most of our political leaders with more than a "C" average (like our present President) have graduated from. The contents of these study programs clearly outline the official US. governmental line as to US militarism and International militarism. The matter of the fact is that this so called need of experience is not really needed. That is why this country has a Dept of State, a Diplomatic Corps with very seasoned operatives, the CIA etc etc etc
