McCain Says Obama's Economic Plan Amounts to Tax Increase

(CBS)
WASHINGTON -- Accusing Barack Obama of wanting to institute the biggest tax increase since World War II, John McCain told the National Small Business Summit that his Democratic rival’s tax plans would have dire consequences for both business owners and consumers. “Under Senator Obama's tax plan, Americans of every background would see their taxes rise - seniors, parents, small business owners, and just about everyone who has even a modest investment in the market,” McCain said. “You work hard in small businesses to grow and to create new jobs and opportunities for others - and the federal government shouldn't make your work any harder.”
Yesterday, Obama spent the majority of his speech criticizing McCain’s economic plan and trying to link him to President Bush. “He calls himself a fiscal conservative and on the campaign trail he’s passionate critic of government spending, and yet he has no problem spending hundreds of billions of dollars on tax breaks for big corporations and a permanent occupation of Iraq,” Obama said. “Policies that have left our children with a mountain of debt.”
McCain countered that Obama’s opposition to free trade was hurting businesses who wanted to expand into the international marketplace. “Unfortunately, Senator Obama has a habit of talking down the value of our exports and trade agreements,” he said. “He even proposed a unilateral re-negotiation of NAFTA -- our agreement with Canada and Mexico that accounts for 33 percent of American exports.”
He also repeated his call for joint town hall meetings with Obama and stressed his vision for these events doesn't involve overhyped media productions, as many of the debates during the primaries turned out to be.
"No need to turn it into a big media-run production with process questions from reporters, a spin room, and all the rest of it," said McCain.
McCain then joked that he had one idea "to keep things friendly."
"I also suggested that my opponent and I travel to these town hall meetings together in the same plane. I promised not to try to fly it," quipped McCain.

Your right. Obama plans on having the government run all the business in this country.
Because that is all that will be left is the empty buildings.
It does not really matter. Once Obama is in office. He will Apologize for slavery to the black people. Then set up the reparbutions.
They want land, housing, free health and free college. Money.
Then he will finish the plan, redistribution of wealth and power.
So He will have people to own the buisness.

Welcome to Obamanation
Those of little doubt Just wait and see.
They have been planning this for over 30 years.
They have their own army to insure it. Not a huge one, but one that can do the job. trained in the basics.
Obama''s plan is to pay as you go and for everyone to pay their fair share. Businesses have been leaving under Bush''s plan so that''s a phony argument.
Hypothetically, a company making 100 million in profits will not go overseas if their profit after taxes becomes 80 million. They especially won''t go overseas if we tax the hell out of them on the way out the door and freeze their assets and confiscate their property til they pay up. If that''s what it takes, that''s what we should do with these traitors!
If you make over $200,000 annually you''ve already been getting your tax cut for 8 years at the expense of the rest of us who actually need it.
It''s time for the super rich to pony up for the war they started and stop the nonsense of trickle down economics.
Those of us who''ve been trickled on are due for our turn at a permanent tax cut.

Um. Where are you coming up this idea that Obama is planning to raise your income tax rate twice?
The Conservative agenda is to force the American Middle Class into poverty, and make the poor into a slave class. Republicans have created more poor and underprivileged in the United States and, they don%u2019t want to pay for it. The American People need to vote in favor of their own better interests.
If you actually incorporated them and got them into law. Business would close and leave the country in droves. The social programs for the poor and low income, would take the middle class and the upper class to pay for them with a tax increase on both. Any business that survived would be Dependant on the government or taken over by the government. The country would be in the Greatest depression ever known to man.
Unless everything Obama said he plans/promised/implyed is a full blown lie.

WOWOWOWOW! $1,000 per person! Right after he''s raised your incometax rate twice over to get it back!
Geezus, talking about the dumbing down of Americans.
That tax game Obama''s playing is just like the old switch and bait game car dealers use on the paper you sign to buy the car. DUH!
Barack had promised a $1,000 per person middle class tax cut. How is that a "tax increase?"
Furthermore, there are MANY aspects of Barack''s plan that do not rely on an increase or decrease in taxation.
For example, shifting the $10 billion per month that we''re spending in Iraq to expenses we need to pay here in American. So how is that a tax increase?
The ONLY REASON McCain is saying this is because Republicans are so incompetent that they can only see the economy through the lens of tax increases and decreases.
Seriously, our economy is so broken that the GOP doesn''t even know how to fix it. Tax decreases increases, which is the tool they''ve ever had in their toolbox, is not going to cut, and the Republicans don''t seem to get it.
Unlike John McCain, Barack actually has an economic plan. McCain on the other hand, simply wants to stay the course with the failed Bush policies.
I choose change and the future.
I choose Barack Obama.
