The Movie Star and McCain

(CBS)

From CBS News’ John Bentley:

While John McCain’s campaign may not be attracting the star power of Barack Obama’s camp – Scarlett Johansson and Oprah Winfrey spring to mind – the grizzled actor Robert Duvall appeared with McCain at three high dollar fundraisers tonight, which raked in over $2 million for his presidential effort.

“I’m not from Hollywood,” Duvall said. “I’m from Virginia.” He went on talk about how inspiring he found McCain’s stories from his time as a prisoner in Vietnam, saying it showed leadership. “He’s now serving his country in another way, and I plan to vote for him,” Duvall said, to cheers from the crowds of donors.

McCain spoke for about 15 minutes to the three crowds, which averaged about 150 people each. He told stories from the campaign trail, including how Michigan Congressman Fred Upton mistakenly took him on a tour of a funeral home in Traverse City, which McCain feared would become a metaphor for his campaign. “Thanks to Fred, we lost Michigan by nine points,” he said.

Upton, who was in crowd, shouted back, “But you won Traverse City!”

“Yeah,” McCain said drily. “All 10 votes.”

McCain wrapped up his speeches with words of encouragement for the donors, many of whom shelled out thousands of dollars to see him speak. “We won’t raise as much money as our opponent, but we will certainly raise enough to win,” McCain said. “I will out-campaign Sen. Obama for the presidency of the United States.”

don''''t blame McCane for screaming obscenities at Republicans, I''''d like to do that myself. Trouble is, McCane''''s one himself. And a nasty one, at that. Why anyone thinks otherwise is beyond me. And he''''s the king of the flip floppers - if you don''''t like what he says, wait five minutes.

Well, McCain got a good one here. I like Robert Duvall because I understand what he says and why. Best Cowboy actor ever,.....even John Wayne in my opinion, especially in Broken Trail.....But I''m not convinced by McCain he will not attempt to confiscate some more of our liberty. Sticking with Ron Paul. I''m not thirsty for someone not thirsty to follow the Constitution literally and with the public service record to prove it. My thoughts of a "voting resume" require it anymore.

I always love it when a celebrity supports a democrat, then they are scum, have no business in politics, etc., blah...blah. But when a celebrity supports a Republican, then they are a patriot. Republicans are such hyporcrites.

Russia and China hold Joint Military Exercise..

CHEBARKUL TESTING RANGE, Russia: President Vladimir Putin said Friday he had ordered strategic bombers to resume regular long-range patrols as Russian and Chinese forces held their first joint military exercise on Russian soil %u2014 a show of armed muscle aimed at sending a pointed message to the United States.

The resumption of bombing patrols, which analysts say signaled a significant change for Russian military policy, comes amid a growing chill in U.S.-Russian relations, strained over Washingtons criticism of Russias democracy record, Moscow`s objections to U.S. missile defense plans and differences over global crises.

Both Moscow and Beijing share a heightening distrust of what they see as the United States oversized role and influence in global politics, and the two former Cold War rivals have forged a "strategic partnership" aimed at counterbalancing Washingtons policies.

The Russian-Chinese war games, which took place near the Urals Mountain city of Chelyabinsk, coincided with Russian air force maneuvers involving 20 strategic bombers which ranged far over the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic oceans.

"We havent seen that kind of activity in a very long time," Asak told The Associated Press. "Not since the early 1990s.

WHY IS McCAIN GETTING A FREE PASS?? CBSnews.com is silent on these:
-Directly related to today''s Politico article on cbsnews.com that we aren''t allowed to comment on: McCain%u2019s top economic advisor, Phil Graham, is a lobbyist for the UBS bank that was the primary bank involved in the mortgage crisis, and while a Senator, instigated much of the deregulation of the mortgage industry that led to the scandals and crisis.
-McCain says he supported Katrina victims when he actually voted against Katrina funding twice.
-McCain courted the endorsements of EXTREMELY controversial pastors Hagee and Parsley... CBSnews.com was silent until McCain FINALLY rejected the endorsements, and immediately ceased coverage of Hagee and Parsley, all while continuing coverage of Rev. Wright long after Obama had rejected his support.
-McCain can%u2019t tell the difference between Sunnis and Shias.
-McCain%u2019s own GOP colleagues talk about McCain%u2019s rage disorder.
- McCain%u2019s involvement in the Keating Five, and Cindy McCain conveniently %u201Cloosing%u201D the financial books in the Keating Five scandal.
- Cindy McCain being busted stealing prescription drugs from a charity to feed her prescription drug addiction? (Maybe she was self-medicating to ease the pain of John McCain calling her a %u201Cc***%u201D and telling her she looked like a %u201Cwh***%u201D with %u201Call of the make-up on%u201D)

John McCain is senile. We can''t trust the highest office in the land to a man who is as confused and befuddled as he is.

Mr.(666) Himself, Ron-ald Wil-Son Rea-gan was an Actor, he Acted and Recited Scripts well, that were written by others and you bought it, Hook, Line an Sinker.

And being that Reagan was a B-Actor, he sounded very Convincing, of Course Reagan was a Trained Actor and just Think, you All Voted his A$$ President of the USA for 2 Terms .

Thats why it`s So befuddling , that a Large Number of You Voted George W. Bush Jr. for 2 Terms and he was No where near the Orator an Actor in Office as President, Actor and Commander An Cheif, Ronald Wilson Reagan.

So Appreciate Barack Obama, he is far better a Representative than John McCain or George W. Bush Jr.

Dennis Kucinich, Reported.

I''m sure you''ve heard rumors about the absurd rape of the Iraqi resources leading up to today, and so have I. What I heard was that the plan was for American Oil companies to get (74 Cents of Every Dollar) generated by Iraqi Oil revenues for the next 35 years. Pretty close to what Kucinich reported.

Do you still think we went into Iraq for Humanitarian reasons ? Purely Monetary

Did we really need to lose all those Civil Liberties to get all that Oil (Patriot Act PDF File It) ?

They still have to Sack Iran to Corner the Market. Course they''re gearing up for that now.

The most powerful country on Earth, America, the country with a Military budget Greater than the Rest of the World Combined is Afraid of Iran ?

No way, Our Shadow Government (THE CFR) wants Iran`s Oil.

Israel & America are Not in Danger of Nuclear Attacks by (Iraq)

1. Israel has over 150 Nuclear Weapons, the Only Country in that Region. What Threat ? Israel just wants to be the Only Country Allowed to Destroy the World Over a 1000 Times Over and they also want to Reap the Oil Field takeover to come from Iraq. They sure as He!! did`nt lay down their Flesh, Bone, Blood & Spirit in Iraq !

2. America is in No harm of being Attacked by Iraq.

Russia, China, India & Pakistan, as well as N.Korea, they are the Greatest Threat, to this Country an we are 1 More Arab Invasion away, before these Countries Retaliate, in a Nuclear Way !! (World War 3)
