Clinton Looks To Pay Down Debt

With Hillary Clinton poised to suspend her campaign tomorrow, attention has turned to how she will retire the more than $30 million in debt the campaign has amassed.

Clinton will likely seek Barack Obama's help in paying down the debt, which includes $11 million she lent to her own campaign. It's somewhat unclear how such a process might work: As CBS News chief political consultant Marc Ambinder points out, Obama cannot legally simply transfer money into Clinton's account, though he can lend her his e-mail list and ask his donors for money for her campaign. He could also appear at a fundraiser for his former rival.

Clinton is a prodigious fundraiser herself, and she plans to raise money for Obama's campaign: Her advisors say she could bring in up to $100 million for his general election campaign, according to the Associated Press.

It is something of a tradition for nominees to help their former primary opponents with their debts – such gestures are believed to help unify the party and reduce any lingering primary season bitterness. Negotiations for assistance in paying down debts can also result in the nominee gaining access to the fundraising lists and elements of the campaign structure of his former rival.

No doubt that Hillary was the first woman to go so far in any US Election history and it will be great if both Obama and Hillary bury their egos and decide to form the President Vice President Pair which is the only way to strenthen the Democratic party.

It''s not about egos or YOUR version of a dream, it is more pragmatic than that. If Obama does not want the same kind of Presidency as he has had candidacy, he will not put HRC and Bill on the ticket. They would render him ineffective, and keep all the old ****** and division going.

That is what they know, that is what they do--then Ferraro can come out and say what a token Obama really is. HRC is too controlling to be anyone''s VP and we note her campaign backed off the strong arm VP tactic, when they noticed it was not playing well with the public.

THESE ARE the seeds planted by HRC and her group--guess what? Seeds grow true to form. AND ALSO GUESS AGAIN...IF THE HRC DEMS WANT TO THREATEN THEIR VOTES NOW--THEY WILL FACE THE SAME IN 2012--YOU GET BACK, WHAT YOU GAVE OUT.

The article says that it''''s a tradition for nominees to help out primary rivals, especially if she could raise millions of dollars of dollars FOR HIM. Oh, but the Obama people will simply have none of that.

No Democrat ever slung as much mud or was as negative against their own and FOR the opposite party like HRC has been. (There are numerous spots of her practically endorsing McCain) Let her go to the GOP or Fox News or her new friends the "vast right wing conspiracy".

This contest was already over in April--and everything else was just ugly and divisive. If HRC and her supporters did not care about any of THAT when it could have been different--why on earth should Obama supporters want to help her now, when her supporters already say they will not support him and will vote for McCain. She recklessly spent the money when she should have been paying her bills all along--she made this bed--she should lie in it by herself. It was a long standing custom that party campaigners would not eat their own either--when Clinton broke that, other things got broken too--there is not much love left for her--and there will be less if her supporters throw the election. This is the seeds planted by HRC and her group--guess what? Seeds grow true to form.

I''ve already told the Obama campaign--no money for the GE, until we know for certain that HRC is NOT the VP pick and that any money sent will not be going to pay for her negative campaign against him. Talk about paying for the stick to beat you with. She should pay her own debts and repay herself LAST and all the money should come from all those "fervent supporters" who would rather keep destroying America with Republican Presidents, than elect a man outside their own race (or gender).

Actually Obama got the republican votes. They wanted him in as nominee, because he was an easier one to beat in Nov.

Hillary won''t be emailing you. They typically email those donors who max out the 4600 to Obama who are not as petty as you and are willing to work to unify the party.

Do you want our help in the general or not? Guess what. He''s gonna need it. All 18 million of us.

He shouldn''t give that dame a dime; she was panhandling after leaving the White House, and now sh''e panhandling after failing to get back in to it. Let her pound the pavement and hawk a few more books; that''s probably what she would have told him if the cup was in the other hand.
