Former Clinton Supporter Switches to Obama

(CBS)

From CBS News’ Maria Gavrilovic:

COLUMBIA CITY, IND. -- Former Democratic National Committee chairman and former Hillary Clinton supporter, Joe Andrew, threw his support to Barack Obama today. Andrew, a superdelegate, said he made the switch from Clinton to Obama in effort to heal the Democratic Party.

“I am changing my support from Senator Clinton to Senator Obama, and doing so with a heavy heart about how this process has hurt the Democratic Party, but enlightened and energized by what I have seen from Senator Obama, particularly over the past days and weeks,” Andrew said.

Andrew said he is going to urge House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Ca., and Senator Harry Reid, D-Nev., to call upon other Democratic Party leaders to back Obama. According to CBS News estimates, more superdelegates have been endorsing Obama since the Pennsylvania primary – he has picked up 11 superdelegates since April 22nd, while Clinton has nabbed six. She still leads in the overall superdelegate count, however, 263 to 244, with 288 undecided.

As he tries to win the Indiana primary and wrap up the nomination, Obama continued to court voter blocks that usually side with Clinton. The day after he lost the Pennsylvania primary, Obama said that it is more difficult for him to win over older voters than it is to win over working class Democrats.

“The problem is that, to the extent there is a problem, is that the older voters are very loyal to Senator Clinton,” he said. “Part of that is they've got a track record of voting for not just Senator Clinton but also her husband.”

To try and counter that, Obama campaigned in a senior citizens home here today, frequently telling stories about his grandparents.

“The reason I’m running is because I’m here only because this country gave my grandparents, and my mother and me a chance,” Obama said. “They gave me a great education, they allowed my grandparents to save and build a family, that’s the American dream.”

I sincerely doubt he has a heavy heart. What would make his switch credible is to explain exactly what prompted him to endorse Barack at this time. At the moment, Hillary is experiencing an upswing in support and so it seems odd that he would choose right now to endorse Barack if as a superdelegate he is concerned about how electable one candidate is compared to another. The truth is that no matter how much Hillary could reverse the poll numbers in her favor, the democratic party has chosen Barack. The primaries mean nothing at this point which IMO makes the entire political process a sham and is no wonder that the general public views politicians as corrupt. Then you have the superdelegates that have the power to make the difference in the final count. This idea of Barack and Hillary calling these people daily and applying pressure on them is really disgusting. I also disagree that any elected official should be exerting pressure on the public by endorsing a certain candidate. The party should respect the two candidates and treat both candidates fairly without any bias. That ofcourse that has not happened and then you have MI and FL, another democratic mess.

A Fair question to ask the Hillary Campaign is would they use the Pardon Executive Order to Get out of this Mess of Campaign Finance fraud with Peter F Paul , thats got Bill and Chelsea involved as well , I Mean the question is fair just how far one is willing to push to get Elected with the stakes so high wouldn''t this be a question of Qualification for the Office of Presidency above all the other Conflicts of interest ?

While Hillary Clinton battles Barack Obama on the campaign trail, a judge in Los Angeles is quietly preparing to set a trial date in a $17 million fraud suit that aims to expose an alleged culture of widespread corruption by the Clintons and the Democratic Party.
The Clintons have tried to dismiss the case, but the California Supreme Court, in 2004, upheld a lower-court decision to deny the motion.

It''s the smart move. The nomination is Barack''s and not Hillary''s. If she had any real concern for the good of America and the Democratic party she''d have dropped out by now, but she doesn''t care. She''s like a spoiled child who has been denied a "toy" that she thought was due her and now she lashes out in all directions, stamping her feet, holding her breath and threatening to kick the game board rather then see anyone but her win. She''s becoming more like Bush everyday.

No actually the number is 4 and they aren''t new ones. They are old endorsements from New York she''s had for awhile but withheld revealing until she could use the announcement to her political advantage to give herself a little boost. Joe Andrews however is not only a new one for Barack, but the loss of one for her since he switched over from her camp.

The foundation of democracy is the people. The voices of people must be heard and their votes must be counted.

OBAMA is losing and can''t win the nomination.
These party elites are giving it to him. How ugly can it be!!!

Whenever a party is placing itself above the people, making choices for the people, it is not of the people, for the people and by the people.

It is a communist party in fact. They are fixing the election.

Not to worry Hillary supporters. The Obama people are just trying to trick the Super Delegates into endorsing Hillary SOONER than LATER. This way they can have a better reason to make the nomination before Aug.

If all the super delegates came out for Obama today, Hillary would still stay in the race.

She has her pride wrapped up in the whole thing now.
She was told more than a month ago that it was over. There was no way she could win. But she''d rather watch the house burn down than let someone else buy it.

Very sad.

Because he''s never had the popular vote, and never will. And the majority of states (16 of them) are red states that won''t carry him in Nov. The DNC knows this. That''s why he doesn''t have the nomination.

Hillary Clinton . Ready To Cry On Day One

Hillary cried on TV when things were tough in NH during the campaign.
What is she going to do if there is a crisis at 3am, start blubbering like a baby. The last thing the U.S. needs is Hillary in the oval office getting emotional and showing weakness. If we are going to have a woman President we need our own iron lady will who will never show emotion under pressure.

America deserves a strong leader, not a cry baby !

Hillary lies again.

The Federal Election Commission has just reported that her campaign debt is $15 million and not $10 million as the Clinton camp reported because she failed to list her $5 million loan among the debts.

This means that even after her new surge of fundraising, she is still $5 million in debt; but Hillary is still smiling; why? Because she knows that her $110 million fortune is nice and safe. It%u2019s the ordinary person on the street who is tricked into losing money on a campaign that is doomed to fail.

Mitt Romney put $42 million of his own money into his campaign, why doesn%u2019t Hillary show she has complete confidence in her campaign and put in some of her own millions. Why? Because she knows it%u2019s a lost cause.

Those of you who are fooled into contributing to her campaign ask yourself why she LOANS her own money but wants you to GIVE your money?

Obama won Alaska. Is it equivalent to California?

That OBAMA is winning the most states is a joke about blow ups in credential.
Not only he is losing, he is losing big.
Look at the polls. He is in a landslide.

Obama bragged he would stay close in Pennsylvania.
The people tell him, ''No, you don''t"

He gets blown out despite spending $11.2 million in advertisement.

There are so many communists in the OBAMA campaign and fanatics.

They always place the party above people.

It sounds so familiar. Ah! This is from George Orwell, the Animal Farm.

The people don''t want OBAMA and the fanatics are trying to stick it down our throat. No you don''t.

The people determines the election, not the OBAMA fanatics, nor the party.

you shouldn''t be here voting,
you shouldn''t be a factor in choosing whom to be nominated,
you shouldn''t be voting at all
your votes are not important
your voices shouldn''t be heard

The primary is over.

A vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to continue%u201D a long, self-destructive Democratic campaign, former national party Chairman Joe Andrew wrote in a letter designed to have an impact on the turbulent race nationally as well as in his home state of Indiana.
He urged Democrats to %u201Creject the old negative politics%u201D and unify behind Obama.

This attempt to demean Reverend Wright is a perfect example. Being white the Old Guard Clinton Campaign are hoping that old people like us will become intimidated. Become bitter, & negative concerning Obama & rally around Hillary our Great White Hope.

I was a Clinton supporter but have been much disappointed with this Negative polictics of Hillary''s. She claims to have 35 years experience in Washington and when I look at the polictics in Washington during this time. It was a very negative, hostile, & warring time. The all about me agenda.

I realize that she has made a small fortune 110,000,000 dollars practicing her polictics of personal destruction. Little has been done for the People during this time of Bitter rhetoric.

The special conciderations the Judge gave her in the Peter Paul case. Its becoming evident that the Clinton campaign is biased and getting special considerations from the Judical & Media. It''''s time to stop this policy of personal destruction and get back to doing the work of the American people. 35 years of negative polictics is not the answer. Chairman Joe Andrew has it right.
