Desperate for Debate, Clinton Suggests One On “Back Of Flat Bed Truck”

(CBS)
From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Hillary Clinton wants to debate her opponent so badly, that she’s even willing to do it “on the back of a flat bed truck." During an outdoor rally standing before the U.S.S. North Carolina, Clinton said the debate doesn’t have to be in a “fancy studio.”

Clinton was responding to comments made by Barack Obama earlier today at a press conference in Indiana when he said, “We've got nine days to try to campaign and meet as many voters as possible... So rather than being in a studio, I want to make sure that we're reaching out to folks where they live, answering their questions and having as many interactions as possible.”

Part of Clinton’s new strategy is to push back against Obama so much that he finally agrees to a debate. In their previous four one-on-one meetings, Clinton has fared better than her opponent, and most recently at a debate in Philadelphia, Obama’s campaign complained that he was unfairly targeted by the moderators. Some said Obama’s performance may have cost him votes in the primary there.

Clinton has now incorporated into her stump speech a line where she targets Obama and his campaign for complaining about those questions at the debate saying those questions are “nothing like the questions you face at the White House.” The line draws large applause from the crowd.

Clinton first proposed a Lincoln-Douglas style debate at a rally in South Bend, Ind., over the weekend where she offered to scrap the moderator and have a 90-minute debate where each candidate would ask the questions. The Obama campaign did not agree to Clinton’s proposal saying that Obama prefers to spend the next few days campaigning rather than preparing for a debate.

CBS continues to coddle Obama and still does not see nor heed the power of the people. Obama can''t seem to get the rest of the country to vote for him fair and square like Clinton, even though he spends tons of money in ads trying to buy their vote. Only the media can be bought since he spends so much money buying air time.

Hillary may have more political experience than Obama, but old Hillary, with 35 years of experience and the advice of an ex President behind her, still voted to go to war in Iraq.

Like Obama, and like millions of ordinary people, she knew that the Iraq threat was a pack of lies but the problem was that she had her eye on the future Presidency; and I think she did not want to be painted as someone who is afraid of war just because she is a woman, this would have damaged her future presidential bid; so she chose the political expedient thing to do, lets go with the flow, lets not rock the boat.

So, to fulfill her personal ambitions, she now has the blood of 4000 US servicemen on her hands and she can never wash that away, no matter how she spins it.

Even to this day, she never uses her own judgment; she says whatever she thinks the audience wants to hear and changes her stance according to the state she is in. That%u2019s why polls show that voters consider her to be the most dishonest politician.

If Hillary is the nominee I would reluctantly vote for her; but I prefer to have a leader who has the integrity to stand by their beliefs rather than go with the flow, even if that means they have to stand alone in a crowded room.

"Refusing to debate Hilary is political suicide"... Joke!
It''s not as if they haven''t debated 21 times already... and since when is the frontrunner in a campaign HAVE to do what the trailing opponent wants? There''s a law about that?

I guess we''ll soon see Hillary stamping her feet like a little child that can''t get her own way... pfffft

Hillary is not a fighter... she is a coward. She doesn''t "win" debates so much as she rallys the ignorant and fearful behind her. All of her supporters need to keep in perspective that everything she does is a ploy to smear Obama and catch up to him. Notice how she resembles the GOP attacks and how many parallels there are between her and McCain. It is frightening that so many of you are deluded into believing her "From Day 1" and experience claims. She will lead our country into continued peril... so will McCain. Being bolstered by the political establishment and media {CNN and ABC} is further evidence.

Hillary, once again, you prove that you have the answers. You have continued to show that Obama is inferior to you in debates. Who do we wish to stand up for our country, a person who shows strength and determination, or one who cowers and complains when the going gets tough? I think the answer is becoming increasingly clear, and it involves a certain man of the name Barrack Obama showing the world that once the hype is over and the dust has settled, he is simply not ready to lead our country at this time.

We are at war. Our healthcare system is one of the worst in the world. Our economy is the worst it''s ever been since the Clintons (when it was actually the best). Now is the time for action. Now is the time for true change. Now is not the time for deep-voiced sermons. Now is not the time for yet another GWB.

You rock, Hilary Clinton. You will make one hell of a Commander in Chief. We will stand behind you always.

She does not deserve any debate with her attitude.
Also, she wants just Free media.

Why everyone should what she wants?

Her wishes do not matter.

Barack does not debate well and he knows it. Hillary is always much better prepared for the debates and she knows the odds are she could score some more points. So it is not in his best interest to debate her if he is trying to protect his lead and not let voters see him struggle as he often does in the debates. However to refuse to debate her looks very poorly on him. It is one of those things that looks worse as time goes by. From my perspective he is looking more like that guy that made the judgmental remarks in SF.

A debate on the back of a flat bed truck? I knew Hillary was having some campaign woes in the finance department, but I didn''t know things were this bad. Sounds like Hillary needs to raise some cash-- and fast!

Refusing to debate Hillary is

political suicide. There has never

been a Presidential candidate that

refused to debate that went on

to win the Presidency.
