Rev. Wright’s Tour Begins

Rev. Jeremiah Wright, longtime friend of and pastor to Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, is getting back into the news, this time on his own terms and initiative. As Chicago Sun-Times’ Lynnn Sweet points out, Wright is going very public in the wake of controversies stirred by taped remarks of some of his sermons, which included often replayed statements like “God damn America.”

First up is an interview with Bill Moyers of PBS, which will air Friday evening. Next comes a turn at the National Press Club in Washington, DC on Monday. According the The Caucus blog at the New York Times, Wright tells Moyers he feels the controversies are unfair. “I felt it was unjust. I felt it was untrue. I felt for those who were doing that, were doing it for some very devious reasons.”

Wright says the political reasons for the flap are clear. “I think they wanted to communicate that I am unpatriotic, that I am un-American, that I am filled with hate speech, that I have a cult at Trinity United Church of Christ. And by the way, guess who goes to his church, hint, hint, hint? That’s what they wanted to communicate.” And, in a seemingly back-handed compliment, he says Obama has dealt with the issue the only way he can. “He says what he has to say as a politician. I say what I have to say as a pastor. But they’re two different worlds. … I do what I do. He does what politicians do.” Stay tuned for more from Wright’s interview.

Reverend Wright is doing to best thing he can to take the hate out of the republican attackers. Wright is a Christian pastor and for all the years of his ministry has done no worse or no better than any other preacher. But just let the republican media and the Bill/Hill and McCain demons go after the worthy Obama. They both know he is the best person to be president. We don''t need McWar Monger or H. Clinton with her republican playbook. The real elitists are Clinton and McCain. Does McCain go to church. He definitely can''t keep his story straight on any matter but gets lauded by the press.

that goes for clinton too. anyways...

nice talking/debating with you. its cool that we were able to do so over such a big issue as race without the other person going down to name calling as i have seen 90% of debates do.

my point is obama needs to get over his race and not let that play for him and he needs to tell wright to shutup and disown him for his unpatriotic statements, and he needs to display his patriotism as so many examples have been given that he isn''t patriotic and his wife needs to be proud of her country long before now if shes going to be its first lady. and obama needs to stop talking about whites and blacks as if we were seperate people cause last i checked we are all Americans.

fine, ill allow that i dont know obama in person and can''t say that he isn''t a decent human being, but i will stand by the fact that i was going to vote for him until he said his little comments lumped with the rev and his wifes comments about america and whites. if someone wants my vote, they need to be patriotic, get our troops home, but don''t bash the current gov system at the same time, support our troops, and not give a dam about what color they are. clinton and obama seem to care very much about race atm, and im sick of it, and im sick of the mud slinging ads, im sick of people bashing our troops and current goverment on top of it all. im sure being president is a hard job but you really shouldn''t condemn the current one until you have experienced yourself, i dont agree with bush but i also dont agree with bashing him and bashing our troops.

how about this.

I think some blacks are racists to whites. maybe most. because of something our ancestors did to yours. grow up, get over, this is a new generation.

Also black men got the right to vote before white women. so don''t try that one on me.

and this, before blacks were the indians, also prosecuted by white men, and guess what they are still worse off than blacks, i have cherokee indian in me as well. they aren''t even considered part of this country, can''t vote and etc, and the indians were here before any blacks or whites! run off their land and killed by the thousands.

what happened, happened. let bygones be bygones, get over the frakkin past. I think obama doesn''t like whites and i think that because of the statement HE said.

My favorite manager is black, and i have 3 other men i work with that are black and they are great guys! but get this i had a black customer come in who didn''t want my help because i was a white woman! he wanted one of the black men to help him. im sick and tired of this race bull. People need to get over what color they are.

stop typing in all caps, it makes it difficult to read and "yelling" isn''t going to get your point across anyways. it only looks bad.

obama is the one who made the comments about whites, categorizing us into one group of people who all believe the same thing. i say frak that, this whole issue about being racist is ridiculous.

by the way, i''m not voting for hillary either, i''d rather not vote for McCain either but he seems the most sane of the bunch. hes jumping down the republicans partys throat for running negative adds. I''m tired of all the "mud slinging" ads. I might as well not vote as I don''t really want any of them, too bad someone can''t win on a write in.

It bothers me that Obamas wife also said "I am finally proud of my country" first off thats BS, second off if his wife and his pastor makes comments like that, the 2 people he is closest too why would he feel any different? Second off was the comments Obama made himself about small town working class whites! Just like blacks don''t like to be lumped into the same group of people as being all alike, whites don''t like it either! That was what really pushed me to not voting for him. Obama needs to get over his race and run fairly, everytime I read the news surrounding obama its about race. i dont give a dam about what color he is, i care about what hes going to do as president, all i am hearing fro him is "change" what change? and oh im black! get over it! i dont care! everyone just needs to be a nice tan color and this wouldn''t even be an issue.

What needs to happen is that Blacks stop hiding behind their race like Wright is! Big frakking deal if your black! I don''t care! It doesn''t make you special you are just like everyone else and if you want to be treated like it stop playing the ******* race card! Did you know a Black female my age, my equal in everything can get a FULL RIDE scholarship to college just because she''s black! I am an average american white girl and I can''t get a scholarship like that. Now some of my best friends are black but at least they have the common sense not to whine and cry and play the race card to get what they want! Seriously, blackspririt I get what you were trying to say but notice that you practically said that any white who doesn''t vote for Obama is racist and that is complete BS. God! I wish they could make all of us a nice golden tan color so no-one can frakkin cry because they are "different" and need to be treated special ebcause their many ancestors ago were abused.

Blackspirit,
First off I was voting for Obama and I am a white female, I have every reason to vote for Hillary don''t you think? Again I was going to vote for Obama because I thought he would fill the positin better than Hillary. WRONG! If there is any doubt, any doubt whatsoever about your love and patriotism for America why the he11 should you be it''s president!!? Rev. Wright is doing Obama no favors by going on this "tour" he needs to sit back and shut his mouth like Bill needs to sit back and shut his mouth for Hillary! Omaba''s wife going "i am finally proud of my country" only because her husband is running for president and he has a chance to win! Frak that! How can a man go to a church for 20 YEARS and mentor under that same said pastor without believeing as he does! Frak that! That is complete BS that everything Wright has said about America.

Hillary lies again.

The Federal Election Commission has just reported that her campaign debt is $15 million and not $10 million as the Clinton camp reported because she failed to list her $5 million loan among the debts.

This means that even after her new surge of fundraising, she is still $5 million in debt; but Hillary is still smiling; why? Because she knows that her $110 million fortune is nice and safe. It%u2019s the ordinary person on the street who is tricked into losing money on a campaign that is doomed to fail.

Mitt Romney put $42 million of his own money into his campaign, why doesn%u2019t Hillary show she has complete confidence in her campaign and put in some of her own millions. Why? Because she knows it%u2019s a lost cause.

Those of you who are fooled into contributing to her campaign ask yourself why she LOANS her own money but wants you to GIVE your money?

DON''T HIDE YOUR RACISM BEHIND REV WRIGHT WORDS. IF REV WRIGHT NEVER EXISTED YOU WOULD NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA. BE MAN ENOUGH AND WOMEN ENOUGH TO ADMIT IT. IF HILLARY WAS A BLACK WOMEN WHITE WOMEN WOULD NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH HER, ADMIT THAT AS WELL. MANY AMERICAN WHITES STILL HARBOUR ILL WILL AND FEELINGS TOWARDS AFRICAN AMERICANS PERIOD. PULEEZE! Obama sat in a church for 20 years listening to a pastor filled with hate for America, he married a girl whose college thesis was on how she would do all she could to further the welfare of the black community first and foremost, so, it all tends to make one believe Obama is also for the black community, first and foremost. How is this being a ''uniter''? This is being a divider. Before he burst on the scene, we were dealing with the race issue, slowly and, for the most part, peacefully and calmly. OBAMA is the one that has stirred the pot and brought up all the discontent.
He has been playing the race card big time because he feels ''using'' the blacks will get him elected because no one wants to fool with the blacks when they are stirred up. The longer this goes on, the angrier he is going to get everyone and this lessens his chances. This is why he was in a hurry. Going down to No. Carolina amongst his "brothers
" after the debate and giving Hillary the ''finger'' and the ''up your''s'' gesture didn''t show the dignity needed to be president. This showed an ''angry little boy getting back at the teacher that bested him''. That, right there when I saw it, lost him any chance of my vote. Such gutter behavior from someone that wants to be president. I don''t think so! If he is nominee, the Republicans will make raw meat of him, chew him up and spit him out!
