Obama Delivers His Pennsylvania "Closing Argument"

(CBS)
READING, PA. -- Barack Obama delivered what he's calling his “closing argument” today as he tried to woo undecided Pennsylvania voters. Arguing that Hillary Clinton is to blame for the negative tone of the election, he said she should have learned from the Republican attacks on her in the 1990s.
“I’m thinking ‘well, you learned the wrong lessons from those Republicans who were going after you in the same ways using the same tactics all those years,” Obama said at a town hall meeting here. “I don’t want us to become like them.”
Although he admitted that his campaign is imperfect, he blamed Clinton’s jabs for some of the attacks that his campaign has launched.
“Look our campaign’s not perfect, there have been times where you know if you get elbowed enough eventually you start elbowing back.”
Obama also argued that voters are not interested in “manufactured” controversies and are more concerned with issues. However, on a stop at a local diner earlier in the day, a patron questioned his patriotism.
"May I ask you a question? I'm going to ask you why you didn't salute the flag?" a local woman asked.
Obama denied the claim, blaming the rumors on false e-mails. "What happened was, we were singing 'The Star Spangled Banner' and the flag wasn't in front of me, the flag was behind me," Obama explained.
The patron told reporters that she was satisfied with Obama’s answer but she’s a Republican and will not vote in the Democratic primary.

For Pennsylvania Democrats, the smart choice Tuesday is Mrs. Clinton.
Clinton is far more experienced in government b%u20AC%u201D as an engaged
first lady to a governor and a president, as a second-term senator in
her own right.
She has a real voting record on key issues. Agree with her or not,
you at least know where she stands instead of being forced to wonder.
More important, she is extremely knowledgeable on crucial foreign
issues. Meeting with Trib editors last month, she ticked off an
impressive list of international challenges and the solutions. (In
Wednesdayb%u20AC%u2122s Philadelphia debate, Obama praised George H.W. Bushb%u20AC%u2122s
foreign policy b%u20AC%u201D apparently not realizing that one of its architects
was then-Defense Secretary *** Cheney, a man he regularly
excoriates.)
As we noted at the time of that meeting, Clintonb%u20AC%u2122s decision to sit
down with the Trib was courageous, given our longstanding criticism
of her. That is no small matter: Political courage is essential in a
president. Clinton has demonstrated it; Obama has not.
She has a real record. He doesnb%u20AC%u2122t.
She has experience of value to a president. He doesnb%u20AC%u2122t.
Clearly, sheb%u20AC%u2122s the wiser choice to represent Democrats this fall.
In Pennsylvaniab%u20AC%u2122s Democrat primary for president: Vote for Clinton
Pennsylvania....its a new day....its a new time.......its a new world.
Yesterday is gone....the differences among us, the lack of true conversation...its all gone!
VOTE BARACK OBAMA! You need to see what great vision he has. You need to see how much greater our country can be for all people...in all types of situations. The Clintons had their day. Its time to turn the page.
Wake up people.
I was hoping that was true.
Suppose the next President of the United States is someone who has refused to accept campaign contributions from special interests, political action committees, and lobbyists, but has financed his campaign solely from the contributions of people to whom he is accountable.
This election is not about whether you happen to be a woman or a man, or whether your father was a black man or a white man, an Asian or a Hispanic. This election is about the future of our country.
We are at a historic moment in America. Barack Obama is a very special candidate for president who can bring about significant changes in Washington and help ordinary Americans begin reclaiming their democracy.
Both the Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, and Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey Jr. know this and have recently endorsed Senator Barack Obama, recognizing Obama%u2019s integrity, intelligence, and the strong leadership he can provide as president.
It is time for voters in Pennsylvania and in all of the other states soon to vote in presidential primary elections to stand up and be counted. It%u2019s time for ordinary Americans to begin the process of reclaiming American democracy by voting for Barack Obama.

Reuters: The New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) in Boston on Wednesday released a study in which it traced the family trees of all Three Presidential candidates to find they all had Famous Relatives, both Dead and Alive.
Note: It found Illinois Senator Barack Obama, whose mother is from Kansas, can claim at least SIX U.S. Presidents as distant cousins, including George W. Bush and his Father, Gerald R. Ford, Lyndon B. Johnson, Harry S. Truman, and James Madison.
But other cousins include British Prime Minister (Sir Winston Churchill) -- and Brad Pitt who is a Ninth cousin linked back Edwin Hickman who died in Virginia in 1769.
"Obama''''s maternal ancestry includes the mid-Atlantic States and the South," said Christopher Child, a genealogist with NEHGC that dates back to 1845 and describes itself as the United States oldest and largest non-profit genealogical organization.
I happen to be a black 42 year old female, my dearest friend in the world, a white 42 year old female, lives in Michigan. Her husband has told me categorically, he can not bring himself to vote for Barack Obama - partly because of his race. And this is supposedly a staunch practicing Baptist. GO FIGURE. When people argue on policy that''s understandable, but when they begin to bring frivolous stuff into the equation I believe, and so does my white friend and her husband, it boils down to race.
Well you don''t have to worry about that. By now it''s obvious where the anti-Christ is. He''s been living in the White House for seven years.

- Hillary often complained of the "politics of personal destruction" and the tactics of Richard Mellon Scaife or Karl Rove. Now she and her husband embrace those tactics and Mr. Scaife''s Pittsburg newspaper has endorsed her. The Clintons will do anything to regain the White House even if means giving the election to McCain.
