Obama: Clinton Throwing "Kitchen Sink" at Me

(CBS)
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

PHILADELPHIA -- Barack Obama drew sharp contrasts between himself and Hillary Clinton tonight, in his most intense criticism of her since he started campaigning in Pennsylvania last month. Speaking to a crowd of over 30,000, Obama accused Clinton of pandering to Pennsylvania voters and using the “kitchen sink” strategy against him.

“In the last few months, she’s launched what her campaign calls a “kitchen sink” strategy of negative attacks, which she defends by telling us that this is what the Republicans would do. She says that’s how the game is played.”

Referring to the controversy that ensued after his comments at a San Francisco fund-raiser, Obama accused Clinton of drumming up what he calls a “fake controversy" and using distractions to score political points.

“I don’t believe we can bring about change if we don’t declare our independence from the politics that exploits our differences and inflames the divisions in our country; the politics that feeds on fake controversy, and distraction, where you keep track of how many points you score on your opponent instead of how many problems you solve for the American people. That may make for good headlines and good television, but it doesn’t make for good government.”

Obama said Clinton has subscribed to a “say-anything, do-anything, special interest-driven game in Washington.”

“In every election, politicians come to your cities and your towns, and they tell you what you want to hear, and they make big promises, and they lay out all these plans and policies. But then they go back to Washington when the campaign’s over, and nothing changes,” Obama said.

“Not this time. This year we can’t afford the same old politics. This year we can declare our independence from this kind of politics.”

He charged that she has taken more money from lobbyists than any other presidential candidate and has changed positions on trade on the campaign trail. “What you can’t do is come to Pennsylvania and make it sound like you’ve been opposed to NAFTA and the permanent trade treaty with China for your whole life when you’ve actually spent a decade as a champion of both,” Obama said.

Although his focus seemed to be Clinton, Obama briefly mentioned John McCain, criticizing his comments that the economy has progressed under the Bush administration.

According to the campaign, the 35,000 that showed up was the largest crowd that they have ever had, spanning across two city blocks in downtown Philadelphia. Up until tonight, the South Carolina rally featuring Oprah Winfrey was the largest.

Hillary is just taking advantage of the TV networks'' desire to pander to base fears that can easily be dismissed with the smallest attention to facts. For example, Ayers'' association with Obama was clearly trivial as shown by this Fact-check
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5j7cAG1TxjwCG7Xv6Wdn5m7kp_RfwD903OQ001
Also, Wright''s most inflammatory words were not even his own - they were quotes fron Ambassador Peck:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=QOdlnzkeoyQ

Meanwhile, relevant information about the candidates goes ignored, such as Obama''s 800+ bills in Illinois legislature over 8 years including the only successful passage of health care reform
http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2007/07/29/us/politics/20070730_OBAMA_GRAPHIC.html

Though Obama''s campaign has been "helping" the press with Hillary''s lies (Bosnia, Mark Penn on CAFTA, ...), they have not made a negative ads out of these things in PA. Obama does take the highroad, most of the time, to the benefit of voters and real issues.

In her senior thesis at Princeton, Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama
stated that America was a nation founded on "crime and hatred". Moreover, she
stated that whites in America were "ineradicably racist". The 1985 thesis,
titled "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community" was written under her
maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson.

Michelle Obama stated in her thesis that to "Whites at Princeton , it often
seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first..." However, it was
reported by a fellow black classmate, "If those "Whites at Princeton " really
saw Michelle as one who always would "be Black first," it seems that she gave
them that impression".

Most alarming is Michele Obama''s use of the terms "separationist" and
"integrationist" when describing the views of black people.

OBAMA TITLED "AUDACITY OF HOPE"
"JIHAH-FROM JAKARA TO THE WHITEHOUSE"

When I first saw the recently released Indonesian translation of Barack Obama''s
book "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming The American Dream", over
here in Southeast Asia I was completely taken aback not only by the violent
imagery in new title of the book, "Menerjang Harapan: Dari Jakarta Menuju Gedung
Putih", but by the fact that it was not really a translation at all, but rather
a completely different title than the original book. For the native Indonesian
speaker, this figurative language creates a mental image whereas the translation
of the book''s title can actually come to mean "Jihad: From Jakarta To The
Whitehouse". Why would the publishers drastically change the title of the book
for the Indonesian translation and make use of such figurative language? Your
guess is as good as mine, but it would seem that Barack Obama is quite
interested with promoting himself in Southeast Asia as a crusader for the cause
of Indonesia''s Muslims.

EXCERPT FROM THE %u201CJUST SOUND BITES%u201D REV.WRIGHT AND FARRAHKAN TRIP TO LIBYA..

Louis Farrakhan, the leader of the Nation of Islam, was seeking the United
States
Government%u2019s permission to accept $1 billion from Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi of
Libya. The gift, Mr. Farrakhan said, would be used to mobilize American black
voters and bolster their economic strength. (elect Obama ?)

Their AGENDA: (excerpt)

%u201CWhile visiting that mercurial miscreant Libyan strongman Col. Muammar Qaddafi,
Farrakhan struck a deal which secured millions of dollars from Libya to lobby

THE RACIST THEOLOGY OF OBAMA''''S CHURCH:
The theology which Wright has been teaching Obama and others at his church is called %u201Cblack liberation theology,%u201D which is based upon the premise of the white oppressor against the black oppressed. This is why Wright refers to Jesus as black, and his killers as white. This is the only way the story of Jesus fits within his theology. Wright cites James Cone, another proponent of black liberation theology, as his theological inspiration. Here are a couple of James Cone''''s quotes: 1. To be Christian is to be one of those whom God has chosen. God has chosen black people. 2. While it is true that blacks do hate whites, black hatred is not racism. 3. All white men are responsible for white oppression. 4. Theologically, Malcolm X was not far wrong when he called the white man the devil. 5. Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community %u2026 Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.

If Obama couldn''t handle the last debate very well (which he didn''t), how is he going to fend off the Republican slime machine. He needs to fess up and tell the truth about the issues like Hillary did last night. When asked about the Bosnia incident, she admitted that she exaggerated, and apologized. When asked about his knowledge of Rev. Wright''s views, Obama continues to lie and expect us to believe that he had no idea his "mentor and spiritual adviser" had those views. One would have to be a moron to believe that, after his 20 year close relationship with Wright. He also lied about the flag pin issue (which, by the way, I think is a non-issue), when he stated that he had never said he wouldn''t wear one. I immediately went to YouTube and found his statement that he wouldn''t wear one in about 2 minutes. He also lied about the issue of his stance on gun control as stated in the questionnaire he filled out in his run for state senate. If Obama doesn''t want to have many more tense moments like he had last night, he needs to be honest with the American public; he needs to admit that he is very much like politicians in general. For those who doubt this, here is an article from the Chicago Tribune about how Obama obtained his first elective office. Read this article, and then decide for yourself if he represents "change."

Other countries are laughing at us not because of Obama but at how stupid the American people were to not only elect an obvious ignorant person like Bush, but to elect him twice.

Other countries would like to see Obama as president so we can integrate with the rest of the world instead of isolationist policies.

The rest of the world also laughs at the Clintons, especially for their sexual exploits.

Oh and here''s yet another connector in the pattern of Barack Obama''s AntiAmericanism(see below). Barack may want to take handguns away from America:

"The Obama campaign also dismissed a candidate questionnaire from his 1996 run for the Illinois state Senate that showed he supported legislation to "ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns."

Obama campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor said an aide, not Mr. Obama, filled out the questionnaire and that some of the answers did not reflect Mr. Obama''s views then or now.

Howard Wolfson, chief spokesman for the Clinton campaign, said the explanation about the questionnaire "simply strains credulity."

From http://washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080419/NATION/121864374/1002&template=nextpage

Not surprising since Barack seems to think he is the next messiah to America.

Ignorance of the tough issues doesn''t make the better candidate.

Solid answers that make sense and that resolve the issue (instead of evading the issue or changing the subject) are what we need in a leader.

The time for being an Obama cultist are over, wake up!!

We choose politicians because they are politicians and can take the heat and turn it into progress for our country, not because they are really touchy-feely and make us feel like a light is shining down on us to take our flag away from us.

Wake up!!!

Hillary Clinton is the ONLY candidate that has a plan for UNIVERSAL
HEALTHCARE. To me, the United States is a 3rd world country so long as
we don''t have UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE.

The United States is the only wealthy, industrialized nation that does
not provide universal health care. -

THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!

My vote is for Hillary because she''s about making America better.

Whew what a crowd ~~~ too bad C-span stopped traveling with the campaigns, probably too expensive. I just love how direct and candid he likes to be. This bodes very well for a government of by and for us all.

I like how he takes all her assaults and makes a lesson about them because she''s demonstrating everything that is sickening and cynical and dishonest in politics and if she succeeds in making him do it too, we all lose.

If he can be himself and not get dragged into it, we might have us a regular Lincoln, in our lifetimes.

Demsdebrakes: You''re full of it. Here''s where a substantial portion of Obama''s money is coming from:
HOW OBAMA HAS USED GEORGE BUSH/KARL ROVE TACTICS TO OBTAIN OVER $62,000,000 FOR HIS CAMPAIGN, SO FAR!:
The Washington Post -- April 11,2008 -- Obama gets plenty of money from big donors too: "Sen. Barack Obama credits his presidential campaign with creating a ''parallel public financing system'' built on a wave of modest donations from homemakers and high school teachers. ... But those with wealth and power also have played a critical role in creating Obama''s record-breaking fundraising machine, and their generosity has earned them a prominent voice in shaping his campaign. Seventy-nine ''bundlers,'' five of them billionaires, have tapped their personal networks to raise at least $200,000 each. ... Donors who have given more than $200 account for about half of Obama''s total haul, which stands at nearly $240 million. ... The bundler list also sheds light on those who might seek to influence an Obama White House. They have helped the campaign recruit more than 27,000 donors to write checks for $2,300, the maximum allowed. Donors who have given more than $200 account for about half of Obama''s total haul, which stands at nearly $240 million. The use of bundlers was perfected by George W. Bush, who in 2000 and 2004 set some fundraising records that Obama has shattered.

What most of America doesn%u2019t seem to realize yet is that in past elections great masses of us either didn%u2019t vote or voted for the candidate we hated the least. We barely paid attention to all the mudslinging.

There%u2019s a new sheriff in town talking about Hope, talking about Change, INSPIRING us, CHALLENGING us to get off our duffs and into the voting booths. Guess what? It%u2019s working.

Obama%u2019s RECORD campaign contributions are not coming from the Republicans. They are coming from this big mass of couldn%u2019t-care-less-about-politics-in-the-past voters who never saw hope or change in a candidate or who hadn%u2019t seen it since the Kennedy era. The internet is a wonderful tool that allows us to investigate claims against our candidate and see 99.9% of them for what they are -- mudslinging that has nothing to do with issues like the ECONOMY, the WAR, and HEALTHCARE.

Mrs. Clinton is yesterday''s politician. Mr. McCain is yesterday''s warrior. Both had their time and place, both earned their laurels, but it''s time for both to step aside.

We see. We believe. Yes, we can.
