Clinton calls on Bush to Boycott Olympics Opening Ceremony

(CBS)
From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:

WASHINGTON -- Hillary Clinton called on President Bush to boycott the opening ceremony at the Olympics in Beijing.

In a written statement Clinton says, “The violent clashes in Tibet and the failure of the Chinese government to use its full leverage with Sudan to stop the genocide in Darfur are opportunities for Presidential leadership. These events underscore why I believe the Bush Administration has been wrong to downplay the human rights in its policy towards China. At this time, and in light of recent events, I believe President Bush should not plan on attending the opening ceremonies in Beijing, absent major changes by the Chinese government.”

Two weeks ago at a press conference in Greensburg, Pa., Clinton voiced her concern over the current political situation in Tibet and told reporters the situation there “is deeply troubling.” But Clinton stopped short of calling for a boycott saying, “Let’s wait on that, I don’t have an opinion about that.”

Clinton joins other leaders in her party who have called for a boycott; most recently Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told ABC News last week, “I think boycotting the opening ceremony which really gives respect to the Chinese government, is something that should be kept on the table.”

EUREKA!!!! It turns out HRC DID actually sign a pledge agreeing not only to not campaign in Mi and FL but also agreeing to NOT seat the delegates. She signed it in the fall of 07.

Now, of course she wants to renege, because what has occurred does not favor her. Sounds like someone just wants to cheat..er I mean... win..any way she can even if it means breaking her SIGNED pledge. So much for what that woman promises-- Hillary will lie, break promises, backstab or do anything to suit herself--NOT the country--but Hillary does it FOR Hillary, whenever following the rules or the law is not convenient.

Yeah, export Amerians jobs, run up huge trade deficits with the Reds...but don''t attend some stupid torch ceremony...that''ll show ''em...It will do as much good as Congress taking time from its usual occupation of fawning and slobbering all over the shoes of oil lobbyists to wag their fingers at them in a scolding manner, with a wink-wink and a nod-nod.

Too bad the Olympics didn''t have a bake-off event, because lil'' Hillary could actually win a gold-medal for her expertise in the kitchen. Keep on baking lil'' woman--just leave managing the wars to a real MAN.

I agree we should keep our involment to a minimal. Our athletes should attend. Our tourist should attend but only because the chineese have never really seen anything like an american tourist. All government officals should stay home or face treason charges.

Considering how the administration of Clinton the Male rushed through Most Favored Nation status for China over human rights objections, it seems a bit shallow and hypocritical now for Clinton the Female, who claims the mantle of Clinton the Male, to object to the Chinese holding the Olympic Games.

Aren''t US jobs more important than Olympic Games? Didn''t the Clintons play along with sending a whole raft full of our jobs to China in order to get campaign contributions and curry favor with the billionaire class?

No coverage of the madame latest lie? Typical coverage here. See, she was bemoaning some poor, poor woman in Lima, Ohio that supposedly was refused care at a local hospital for a problem pregnancy. See, she supposedly didn''t have health insurance and the horrible hospital refused care and demanded money. Well, the baby utimately died as did the woman. Her family is in an uproar because #1 she had health care, #2 she was never denied care at any time #3 she was under the care of an OB Sadly to say, her baby was still born and she did die.
This woman has got to be the most vile, vile person to date. She wouldn''t know the truth if it hit her in the face and hopefully, some day it will.
Disgusting! Not one word in the msm.
As for the Olympics-who the h*&l cares!! Just politics and a power play by the lying biotch.

I would go further. I hope Bush skips eating, breathing, basically skip doing anything that keeps him alive.

WOW! How gutsy of her to suggest this!

To bad she didn''t speak up about the Iraq war---she didn''t even bother to look at the intelligence reports!

Anyway, it doesn''t matter! Mr.Bush never does what any normal thinking person would in his position! And, now that Hillary has suggested he should, he CERTAINLY won''t!!

Been looking at Clintons Senate record, nothing much, a few pork barrel items. Now she is calling for a boycott of the Olympics opening ceremony. Wow, finally, an achievement.
