Obama: Gore "Will Be At The Table"

Asked on "60 Minutes" recently who he is supporting in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, Al Gore said he's "tryin' to stay out of it."

But the Associated Press reports that Barack Obama wants him to be very much in it, if and when he takes the presidency.

Asked if he would consider Gore for a cabinet position* to address global warming, Obama told the crowd at a town hall meeting in Pennsylvania that he would.

"Not only will I, but I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this problem," Obama said. "He's somebody I talk to on a regular basis. I'm already consulting with him in terms of these issues but climate change is real."

Both Obama and Hillary Clinton have courted Gore, the climate change activist who backed Howard Dean in 2004. The former vice president and presidential nominee has also been discussed as someone who could serve as a broker to help settle the hard-fought Democratic race.

*CORRECTION: Because of an Associated Press error, this post initially stated that Obama said he would consider Gore for a Cabinet position "or higher." Neither the questioner nor Obama discussed a position higher than Cabinet level.

Dude!! Gore Rocks!!!

The GOP will be HURTING in the next elections!!!!

The GOP/Republican tools on these forums wouldn''t dare talk about Republicans and their failed policies. Instead they help themselves feel better about blind support for the Republicans, by attacking Democrats trying to fan the flames of dissent within the DNC.

Well now I know, a vote for a Republican is literally a vote for ignorance, and misguided spending in an unnecessary war in Iraq, which causes more hate........

Democrats ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

Obama is an amazing speaker! I have never heard any politician speak so candidly and clearly about so many topics, much less the state of racism in America. I''d love to see a Republican address this subject in such a direct and intelligent way.
MAJOR APLAUSE FOR BARRAK OBAMA!!

I%u2019m proud to be a part of such a historic election. We can have our first woman or African-American President!!! This country has some healing to do and Republicans just GET IN THE WAY.

This election will be historic, and it%u2019s not about Hillary versus Obama, it''s about Democrat versus Republican.

Hillary or Obama, or both. Go Democrats!

NOTE TO rjudy3 at 02:44 PM : Apr 02, 2008

You betray yourself with your ignorance. That''s your prerogative, of course, in these United States.

But please don''t betray the good citizens of this country with a vote based on hatred, bigotry, and, yes, your ignorance.

Stay home if that''s all you bring to the table. Your country will thank you for it.

REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER: As of April she seems to lose her dignity at every turn. Lying about dragging her daughter under sniper fire and comparing herself to a guy who punched dead cows in a meat seller (Rocky). She''s like Rock because he didn''t know when to quit making those dumb movies either. Rocky made his own way - he wasn''t a weak woman who ran on her cheating husbands coat tails.

To those of you who think that everyone SHOULD think like you...think again. Wake -up from the dream your end ,clear the smoke between your ears, and come to your human senses. Your maniacal obsession for the half-black,half-white guy and his wife borders on pathological. I suggest counseling or electric shock therapy or combination of both.
Obama and his ignorant wife want US to believe that ONLY ST OBAMA can take us to the promised land. You idiots believe that, we, the TRUE DEMOCRATS dont. And every time someone questions Obama"s tactics or comments by him or his wife you young, inexperianced, airhead college students(mommy and daddy paying for everything)cry racism. Look up the word you idiots.
If you dont realize that the majority of voters are the baby boomers not young affluent punks but guys like me and women of Hillary''s age, you will never be able to understand how politics work. So quit blogging and go drink some jello shots, it''s SPRING BREAK!!!
ps-leave the politics to the grown-ups.

Al Bore calls anyone who disagrees with his global warming theory a flat earther for doubting his junk science environmental claims, yet he failed to explain why last year, we had one of the coldest winters in a generation and the Attic ice that supposedly disappeared has now returned with a vengeance. Someone with the carbon footprint of Sasquatch should stuff his mouth with more fattening fried foods, rather than spewing a bunch of garbage that he concocted to make money at the expense of our personal freedoms.

Democrats finally got it going on.....well all right....

Senator Obama''s speech was one of the most important social commentaries about the race issue in this country since the Civil Rights Movement. He stood up for what and who he believes in, even though it may have hurt his chances at securing the democratic nomination. He didn''t throw his religious leaders under the bus (as McCain did to Robertson and Falwell years ago) only to resurrect them when it suited his political aspirations (McCain recanted his reference to Falwell and Robertson when he needed to secure his place on the republican ballots). Anyone who doesn%u2019t think that this country is still feeling the effects of our nation''s past abhorrent policies like Jim Crow, Anti-Miscegenation and Exclusion Acts, disenfranchisement, and other "legal" forms of discrimination need to study our history in more detail. Were some of Rev. Wright''s comments incorrect and unjustified? Certainly, and Obama admitted it. However, let''s not forget about Falwell''s cause for the attacks of 9/11 - homosexuality and feminism. After hearing Barack''s speech, I, for the first time in quite a while, I am proud to consider myself an American and would be honored to call this man President.

Hill or O or both in 08....

Go Democrats!

rjudy, Michelle Obama is smart and has brains. Do you? Since you have never been a Black person in the USA, you have not walked in her shoes and cannot image what it is truly like to live as a black individual in a racist country. Many things have improved here, and laws forbid discrimination. However such laws cannot dictate to the hearts and minds of racists such as you. Trust me %u201CJim-Crow%u201D is not dead, only pushed aside. But what you know about that? Nothing! Despite Michelle Obama%u2019s two degrees both from separate Ivy League Universities, she is still a black female in the US and treated as such. Until you can say the same, you need to shut up and get a life. Sen. Obama is not responsible for the Michigan/Florida fiasco. Place the blame where it belongs, Florida/Michigan; that chose to violate the rules. You hint the fault is Sen. Obama%u2019s when both Clinton and Obama signed that they would NOT campaign and would remove their names from the ballots in those two states due to violations. Why Sen. Clinton did not remove her name is strange to me. I hope that delegates from those two States will be seated irrespective of how it is officially worked out, but please place the blame where it belongs. You don%u2019t know who will win PA. Are you a seer? Hillary is still behind in all counts which matter. It looks less likely that she will be able to %u201Csend Obama to Kenya with his dumb wife%u201D at least as president of the USA. You are the dumb one!

Obama backers and Democrats who fear that this ongoing fight damages their candidate and puts him at a disadvantage in the fall campaign should consider that anything Hillary Clinton''s campaign dishes out today will be Pablum compared with what Republicans will be serving up this fall. If he can''t withstand this, he certainly won''t survive a general election.

Dems are taking the gloves off why leave the clean up to Republicans..Obama is a fraud

Hey rowdy get over it. You seem to find a reason to attack obama for everything. He imho will be the democratic nominee for president and it will be a real dog fight as to who will be president. The constant warfare among dems will hurt them since some people like you maybe will simply not vote or vote for McCain or Nader.

gore may be able to work as a mediator to come up with a method of picking the nominee without alienating either the feminists for clinton or the blacks who back obama. Any method that seems unfair to either side could result in the totally unexpected a republican elected in 2008.

Talk about arrogance! If Gore wanted to "be at the table" he would be running for President. Gore GENUINELY cares about the environment and will see through Obama''s fawning attempt at concern purely for a sound bite. Nice try Obama but stick to Kennedy, Kerry, and Richardson who have cast their endorsement.

iamthequeen,

Contrary to your comments Gore should feel honored to be invited to Obama''s table. And as far as Gore running for president, PLEASE--he had his chance and allowed Karl Rove to kick his candy-*** all the way back to Tennessee. So, when the Godfather invites him to a sit-down he should show some respect. Karl Rove will have his *** handed to him if he dares to take on the Obama shuffle. Rove will learn quickly that he isn''t messing with the likes of Gore, Lieberman, Kerry or Edwards. Karl Rove will get steamrolled by the Obama shuffle. Al Bore? Better be happy Obama even acknowledged him.
