Obama: Gore "Will Be At The Table"
Asked on "60 Minutes" recently who he is supporting in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, Al Gore said he's "tryin' to stay out of it."
But the Associated Press reports that Barack Obama wants him to be very much in it, if and when he takes the presidency.
Asked if he would consider Gore for a cabinet position* to address global warming, Obama told the crowd at a town hall meeting in Pennsylvania that he would.
"Not only will I, but I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this problem," Obama said. "He's somebody I talk to on a regular basis. I'm already consulting with him in terms of these issues but climate change is real."
Both Obama and Hillary Clinton have courted Gore, the climate change activist who backed Howard Dean in 2004. The former vice president and presidential nominee has also been discussed as someone who could serve as a broker to help settle the hard-fought Democratic race.
*CORRECTION: Because of an Associated Press error, this post initially stated that Obama said he would consider Gore for a Cabinet position "or higher." Neither the questioner nor Obama discussed a position higher than Cabinet level.

See all 152 CommentsPeople like you re supposed to be sent to the Guantanamo Bay.
Wish you luck in your self destruction.
Just hope you won''t commit sucide soon.
The GOP will be HURTING in the next elections!!!!
The GOP/Republican tools on these forums wouldn''t dare talk about Republicans and their failed policies. Instead they help themselves feel better about blind support for the Republicans, by attacking Democrats trying to fan the flames of dissent within the DNC.
Well now I know, a vote for a Republican is literally a vote for ignorance, and misguided spending in an unnecessary war in Iraq, which causes more hate........
Democrats ROCK!!!!!!!!!!
Obama is an amazing speaker! I have never heard any politician speak so candidly and clearly about so many topics, much less the state of racism in America. I''d love to see a Republican address this subject in such a direct and intelligent way.
MAJOR APLAUSE FOR BARRAK OBAMA!!
I%u2019m proud to be a part of such a historic election. We can have our first woman or African-American President!!! This country has some healing to do and Republicans just GET IN THE WAY.
This election will be historic, and it%u2019s not about Hillary versus Obama, it''s about Democrat versus Republican.
Hillary or Obama, or both. Go Democrats!
You betray yourself with your ignorance. That''s your prerogative, of course, in these United States.
But please don''t betray the good citizens of this country with a vote based on hatred, bigotry, and, yes, your ignorance.
Stay home if that''s all you bring to the table. Your country will thank you for it.
Now there''s something to look forward to. But he did invent the internet.
Obama and his ignorant wife want US to believe that ONLY ST OBAMA can take us to the promised land. You idiots believe that, we, the TRUE DEMOCRATS dont. And every time someone questions Obama"s tactics or comments by him or his wife you young, inexperianced, airhead college students(mommy and daddy paying for everything)cry racism. Look up the word you idiots.
If you dont realize that the majority of voters are the baby boomers not young affluent punks but guys like me and women of Hillary''s age, you will never be able to understand how politics work. So quit blogging and go drink some jello shots, it''s SPRING BREAK!!!
ps-leave the politics to the grown-ups.

RNC TRASH yeah your black sure uhhuh
April 11th Dems are protesting in NY against Obama and the news medias covering up for Obama and their Lies about Clinton and McCain
Senator Obama''s speech was one of the most important social commentaries about the race issue in this country since the Civil Rights Movement. He stood up for what and who he believes in, even though it may have hurt his chances at securing the democratic nomination. He didn''t throw his religious leaders under the bus (as McCain did to Robertson and Falwell years ago) only to resurrect them when it suited his political aspirations (McCain recanted his reference to Falwell and Robertson when he needed to secure his place on the republican ballots). Anyone who doesn%u2019t think that this country is still feeling the effects of our nation''s past abhorrent policies like Jim Crow, Anti-Miscegenation and Exclusion Acts, disenfranchisement, and other "legal" forms of discrimination need to study our history in more detail. Were some of Rev. Wright''s comments incorrect and unjustified? Certainly, and Obama admitted it. However, let''s not forget about Falwell''s cause for the attacks of 9/11 - homosexuality and feminism. After hearing Barack''s speech, I, for the first time in quite a while, I am proud to consider myself an American and would be honored to call this man President.
Hill or O or both in 08....
Go Democrats!
Dems are taking the gloves off why leave the clean up to Republicans..Obama is a fraud
You''re telling lies right now.
Gore bought an old Mansion with a large carbon footprint and reto-fittted. All the conservative press reports is that he bought a house with a big carbon footprint and folks like you run witth the half-truth.
Have Bush or McCain done any retro-fitting lately or done anything to inspire others to do so?
He has withstood everything she''s thrown at him. That''s why you''re doing all the whining.
Have fun in New York, Dork.
I''ll be sitting at home laughing!

Hey rowdy get over it. You seem to find a reason to attack obama for everything. He imho will be the democratic nominee for president and it will be a real dog fight as to who will be president. The constant warfare among dems will hurt them since some people like you maybe will simply not vote or vote for McCain or Nader.
Let me guess, massah Bill and missy Hillary promised you a job in the big house? C''mon, why waste your vote for a promise to shine lil'' Hillary''s shoes. You want to clean her kitchen stove next? Let that lil'' woman wear her own apron.
Get over yourself, Sir. You have no idea who the democratic nominee will be. And I will speak out against lies, corruption, a smarmy politics when I see them.
Contrary to your comments Gore should feel honored to be invited to Obama''s table. And as far as Gore running for president, PLEASE--he had his chance and allowed Karl Rove to kick his candy-*** all the way back to Tennessee. So, when the Godfather invites him to a sit-down he should show some respect. Karl Rove will have his *** handed to him if he dares to take on the Obama shuffle. Rove will learn quickly that he isn''t messing with the likes of Gore, Lieberman, Kerry or Edwards. Karl Rove will get steamrolled by the Obama shuffle. Al Bore? Better be happy Obama even acknowledged him.
