Huckabee: Romney Not Ready For "Starting Lineup"

(CBS)
From CBS News' Joy Lin:

TEXARKANA, ARK. -- After feeling wronged by reports he had pulled out of Florida (ultimately, he was there for more days than he had been in South Carolina) and participating in debates that didn't give him equal time, Mike Huckabee is playing defense.

Huckabee has taken offense to Romney's effort to call a vote for Huckabee as a vote for John McCain. Huckabee has called that "voter suppression" while Romney is saying it’s just politics.

Huckabee told CBS News' Nancy Cordes: "The point is-- that you're trying to affect the outcome of the election by manipulating who people vote for. And I just think...[Romney] needs to tell people why he should be elected. He shouldn't try to...engage in the speculation that my voters really would be his voters, or a vote for me is a vote for McCain…He needs to just work on getting his folks out there. And that's it. And not try to manipulate everybody else's election like he's tried to manipulate everybody else's point of view and everybody else's record."

And in regards to Romney’s statement that the first rule of politics is "no whining," Huckabee said, "I'm hoping he'll live up to that. 'Cause he's the one — every time he spends millions of bucks on John McCain and me and then we push back, then he jumps up and down and just screams and hollers and says, 'Oh it's a personal attack! It's a personal attack!' No, this is running for the presidency. It ain’t beanbag. So, if he's going to throw a few at our heads, he needs to know that when he comes into play, he's going to see some 98-mile-an-hour fastballs coming back. That's how it goes. If he thinks this is tough, he ain't seen nothing 'til he faces Hillary or Obama in the general election. So that's why I don't think he's the best guy to put on the field in the starting lineup for the big game."

HUCKABEE SUPPORTERS - STOP BEING PAWNED

First ... HUCKABEE IS A CROOK. Just stop the banter and search news on Google. Enter "HUCKABEE ETHICS VIOLATIONS". There is an avalanche of documented charges by which he got nailed 5 times by the ethics commission. He has stolen over $1 million THAT HE GOT CAUGHT FOR from the state of Arkansas ... who knows what he didn''''''''t get caught for?

Yeah ... bury your heads in the sand and do not look at the facts ... being tagged as one of the "10 Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians" for 2007 is a great reason to vote for "Govenor Graft".

Now put in Romney ... nothing ... zilch.

Oh and then he stays in a race to stooge for McCain .... when individuals such as Edwards and Guiliani show more class ... open your eyes, his smooth talking, speaking with conviction, has got you duped.

DON''''''''T WASTE YOUR VOTE ON HUCKABEE ... YOU ARE VOTING FOR A CROOK ... AND MCCAIN.

If Huckabee can''t win the Republican vote in South Carolina or Florida, how on earth is he going to win the Republican vote around the country and then the nomination?

Nobody wants Baptist preacher that plans to "amend the Constitution to God''s standard."

Like it or not, a vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain.

Look at the latest polls, Huckabee is even behind in Georgia.

Huckabee is very impressive, his tax plan has been reviewed by several economists and is not new, just common sense. Would you rather have your earnings taxed or or spending? His plan promotes SAVINGS and self reliance. AWSOME

Why did Huck destroy 83 computer hard drives, before he announced his plans to fun for president....
He sure must have a lot to hide.
All he can talk about is Romneys money..he is so jealous. Romney had the knowledge to make his money and he worked for it.
Huck must not have had much success passing the plate on Sunday. Then he stole all he could while governor.
Romney is spending his own money to try and make a better America for all the people. he has already said he would donate the president salary to charity. He doesn''t want the money.
Huckabee''s tongue is hanging out drooling for the money.

Mitt Romney supporters are arrogant, just like Romney himself. How dare they say someone should drop out. I guess when you are rich you think you can do and say anything, and the "lowly" people are suppose to do whatever you say. Time for this silver spoon dandy to find out everyone knows he (Romney) is a liberal and voting for him would be just like voting for Clinton. Mitt, stop thinking you are better than everyone else.

Thank you, conservative elite media commentators and talk show hosts for splitting the Republican vote by your continual slandering of Huckabee and Paul supporters. You didn%u2019t get your guy so you trashed everybody else. The Republicans will not get those voters back in time for the primary election. Can you say G. Ford, B. Dole and H. Bush? Please be aware that you are not that smart. You just turned off the conservative base and their donations.

Thank you for putting a Democrat in the White House in 2009, or McCainnedy!

After the election Russ and Sean will say it was Huckabee that allowed the Democrats to win. CYA

*** ALERT ****

Tony Perkins and James Dobson of FRC (Family Research Council) value voters guide that I just received today clearly shows they are supporting Mike Huckabee for President.

Out of all the questions they asked of Republicans and Democrates, Mike Huckabee scored 100% in all questions.

It also shows that Mitt Romney''''s liberal positions are still showing through him in the questioning.

It says Mitt Romney supports human cloning and embryo destruction. Plus it says Mitt Romney would vote for passage to water down the Federal Marriage act of 1996.

Plus it says Mitt Romney will vote to allow passage of law that allows the Government to take away private land of it''''s citizens whenever it wants to.

Do Republicans want a liberal like Mitt Romney running our party or a true conservative like Mike Huckabee running our party?

It''''s clear that Tony Perkins and Dr. James Dobson are supporting conservative Mike Huckabee in the value votes results I just received today.

If you are a conservative who has admired what Tony Perkins and Dr. James Dobson has down for the nation, please go vote tomorrow for Mike Huckabee who they are clearly showing they are supporting.

Honest777,

It is Romney that should drop out. Huckabee has the support of American people, the real everyday ones.

Romney is a corporate greed man and a dumb one at that. It will only take him so far!

The only reason they are splitting votes is because of the large amount Romney has spent.

All of Huckabees votes are from ordinary people who believe in him.

Huckabee will only win a few states in TOTAL.

Let''s wake up conservatives!!!

Huckabee is only looking proud and arrogant now. Sad really because he could have been a player nationally, but he has pushed too far now.

If McCain wins, Huckabee will only be remembered as the conservative who betrayed the party in the short term and his own faith in the long run (as liberal judges are appointed to the bench time and again) PRIDE BEFORE THE FALL

I agree with Mr. Huckabee that he has not been given the same amount of time in the debates, neither has Ron Paul. The media has been acting like there are only 4 candidates in this race. 2Dem''s and 2Repub''s. I appreciate Mike Huckabee''s honesty and his grit. He has run his campaign with much less money than the other candidates and has done a very good job of getting his message out under difficult circumstances.

"[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it''s a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that''s what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it''s in God''s standards rather than try to change God''s standards," Huckabee said.

Here you go, callenfallen. I don'' think Huckabee could have been any clearer that that on his wish to change the constitution.

It''s obvious that Mr. Huckabee does not have the country''s best interest at heart. He has carried one state and is not honestly a viable candidate in many more as we approach Super Tuesday. It would be quite a stretch to blame the division within the Republican Party on Sean or Rush. Rather, we should look at the very large ego of Mike Huckabee and his need to have it stroked at the expense of the American people. Guess it is the democrats'' turn and our thanks should really be directed at Mr. Huckabee. Thanks, Mike! Let''s all gather ''round now and get use to saying-- President Obama or President Clinton.

History tells us that the American people periodically decide that a change in government is necessary and elects to change the party in power at the White House and the Congress. Unrest and dissatisfaction with the current bickering affected some changes in the elections in 2006. Unless the Republicans have a dynamic, energetic candidate with a vision for the future, this election goes to the Democrats. Cliches, cutsey remarks, and finger pointing isn''t substantive enough to get Mr. Huckabee elected as President. The American people are yearning for leadership and the absence of hate rhetoric. Sorry, Mr. Huckabee, but your campaign sounds too similar to the bickering we''ve been subjected to for the past 8 years. Enough already!!!

While reading through some of the comments, it is apparent that when one doesn''t really have any facts, he or she parrots what has been "reported" through the media, the "gossip" sites on the internet, or the hundreds of unreliable emails. If you bother to visit the many sites where people are responding to the news, etc. you will be surprised to note the following: Huckabee supporters are more prone to name calling in their comments and generally have less correct information while their greatest criticisms about Romney are his faith and his personal wealth. It should be noted that flip-flopper has been used to describe Mitt Romney, yet there is no evidence that once he has changed his mind that he has ever flipped back or changed it again.

Those who claim Romney to be a liberal should check into his record and not take what Huckabee or anyone else says as "fact." He changed his mind on abortion - as many others have. There is not shame in having a change of heart - only in being too arrogant to admit it. As for what you refer to as "greed." Mitt Romney worked for what he has, he didn''t take salary as governor, didn''t take salary as CEO of the Olympics and says he won''t take salary if elected President - greed doesn''t seem to be a legitimate issue. Mike Huckabee has no integrity - if he did he would go after the frontrunner - John McCain. He''s a suck up and a dishonest one at that. I pray people will see through him soon and get rid of him. Vote for Mitt!

The former Arkansas governor earned his Huckster nickname as well as a great YouTube moment of shame when he challenged Romney%u2019s support of the troop surge during ABC%u2019s New Hampshire debate.

During the debate he attacked Romney with this boldfaced lie: %u201CI supported the surge and you didn%u2019t.%u201D

The YouTube clip shows exactly how dishonest Huckabee is. Two weeks after Romney had issued a January 2007 press release supporting the surge; the Huckster does an interview deliberately distinguishing himself from other candidates by withholding support for the surge.

In the Jan. 24, 2007 interview on MSNBC%u2019s %u201CLive,%u201D Norah O%u2019Donnell asks:

%u201CWe have a Rudy Giuliani, who supports the president%u2019s plan on Iraq. We have Governor Mitt Romney, who also supports a troop surge. How are you different from any of those candidates?%u201D

Huckabee: %u201CWell, I%u2019m not sure that I support the troop surge, if that surge has to come from our Guard and Reserve troops, which have really been overly stretched.%u201D

I love it when Huckabee finally strikes back. He has turned the other cheek repeatedly in this election because he is a Christian. But he is also a man and a man can take only so much.

Romney is a phony. But the ones that really need to learn the fear of the Lord are the self-important media big-shots who try to control the election. CNN''s Kleinman, who ordered his cameramen to keep the focus on Romney and McCain in the last CNN debate, should be fired immediately. Those people should find out the hard way that this election is about the future of the country, not entertainment and ratings.

Huckabee''s supporters have not been lowering standards and attacking candidates and name calling. That''s what this country needs. Huckabee started as an average man, Romney born into wealth and politics. Define hard work, if you start from bottom and make it to the top, that is not the easy street. People see this. People are giving money they can''t afford to give for Huckabee''s campaign. He didn''t trash others, he is offering his campaign that "sells its self", sorry that offends or beats yours. The ones calling liers are just that name calling. The people will speak. Please respect this when they do they are voters, too.

Romney and McCain are definitely spoilers for Mike Huckabee demonstrated by their expense per vote received.

My last estimate:
Romney- $84,644,955 = 4,095,564 Votes @ $21.40 ea.
McCain - $39,145,649 = 4,820,598 Votes @ $ 8.12 ea.
Huckabee %u2013 $7,107,364 = 2,399,495 Votes @ $ 2.96 ea.
