Romney: Election Is About “Heart And Soul” Of GOP

(CBS)
SAN DIEGO -- Although polls show John McCain would have the best chance of any Republican candidate to win the general election, Mitt Romney said that his message of change would be the most salient in November.
“If you think about debating Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton and who our nominee is going to be, we’ve got to make sure we have a nominee who can stand up and articulate a vision for America’s future, not someone who’s lost in the past,” Romney said at an outdoor rally in front of an enthusiastic crowd of several hundred people.
Though he called John McCain “a fine man and a national hero,” Romney argued that the Arizona senator would be unable to unify the conservative base.
“We’re going to make a choice here about the heart and soul of the Republican Party. I’m really — I’m serious about that,” Romney said. “Are we going to stay in the house that Ronald Reagan built or are we going to take a different course?”
The secrets of tennis legend
Mike Huckabee has already fought and beaten the Clinton Machine in Arkansas. When he ran for Governor, Bill and Hillary Clinton personally campaigned against him for the Democratic candidate. And Huckabee won - this in a democratic state.
Also, Huckabee has either beaten or nipped at the heals of Mitt Romney in every primary -- all with a fraction of Romney''s budget. As a smart businessman, wouldn''t Romney realize his product isn''t worth the investment? Huckabee''s selling the REAL DEAL.
Thirdly, Huck''s campaign isn''t on its last legs; rather, he''s polling at most 2 points behind Romney nationally and beating him in more polls in Super Tuesday states. He''s also brought in $3 million in donations just in January.

There hasn''t been someone this talented running for President since Ronald Reagan...
MITT ROMNEY.
Go Mitt !
1. a vote for Huckabee at this point in the race is a vote for McCain. Huckabee cannot win the primary and is almost out of money.
2. a vote for McCain in the Primary is a vote for Obama or Clinton in the general election.
McCain cannot win the general election and McCain knows that without the base of the Republican party he, like Dole before him, will loose. The base will never support liberal McCain. Anyone voting on super Tuesday and beyond who is considering McCain or Huckabee needs to think long and hard about the impact of their vote. If you prefer President Obama or Clinton over Romney, then vote for McCain or Huckabee my friends.
ALL REPUBLICANS NEED TO FLOOD THE INTERNET WITH THIS MESSAGE, SHARE AND DEBATE IT WITH MCCAIN AND HUCKABEE SUPPORTERS AND TAKE BACK OUR PARTY%u2026%u2026%u2026WE CAN WIN THE WHITEHOUSE IN %u201808!! GO MITT!!!!

See all 16 CommentsI think that Gov. Mitt Romney is the man that can achieve this.
He is a pacifier not a war monger as is Sen. McCain.
He will be a unifier of the party and has an honorable past.
He is young, intelligent, vibrant and a religious man.
At the same time, he is the only one that can be accepted by democrats and republicans alike, as opposed to Sen. McCain, who has the limited support of a few independents and military personnel. Nobody wants the status quo to continue.
And above all, in the last 48 years, since the election of President J.F. Kennedy, no senator has been elected by popular vote.
It has always been a governor,
another advantage over Mr. McCain.
If the Republican party wants to win the 2008 election, they must choose Gov. Mitt Romney as their candidate!
