"A Dishonest Republican or an Honest Democrat?"

(CBS)
From CBS News' Joy Lin:

INDIANOLA, IOWA -– “Governor Huckabee, if Mitt Romney were the Republican nominee, would you vote for the Republican nominee or would you vote for a Democrat?” asked a reporter today.

“Oh, I would never vote for a Democrat in the presidential election next year,” he responded.

“But you just accused him of being dishonest. Would you rather vote for a dishonest Republican or an honest Democrat?” she continued calmly. The room of reporters slowly erupted in oh-no-she-didn't ooooohs and laughter. Huckabee began to chuckle himself.

“Hello, I’m Mike Huckabee, and I didn’t approve this message,” he said in an announcer’s voice. He laughed. “Okay, I think that’s all the time we have. You’re good, you’re really good ... And I’m not, I’m not going to answer that.”

It was a legitimate question for a candidate who, on December 19, said, “We’re going to at some point have a nominee. It’s going to be one of us and the rest of us are all going to be sort of forced to sort of stand on stage with big smiles on our face and say this is just great with us ... I don’t want to do that with some disingenuous grin on my face. I want to be able to say we had a good battle, the best man won, and now we are going to unite this party. We’re going to keep the White House and bring America back to its best days.”

Reporters today honed in on Huckabee’s consistent use of the word “dishonest” to describe Romney’s style of negative campaigning.

"Maybe you have another word for it, but the only word I knew in Arkansas was – we kind of called it simple there – we called it dishonest. That’s the only thing I know how to call it,” he said.

Huckabee maintained today he was trying to run a “positive campaign” that brought out “honest differences, policy differences.” But Huckabee said he needed to “defend my record and that of John McCain and Rudy Giluiani’s” because “it’s one thing to attack us on our records, it’s another thing to make it up.”

“Every Iowan voter right now is being bombarded with nasty, negative attack ads that are just absolutely untrue. We’ve got to set the record straight so the voters of Iowa don’t hear that and say, 'oh Huckabee hasn’t said anything. It must be true if he’s not responding'...I believe one great thing about Iowa caucuses dis these are folks who have been through this before. And even though they are not easily swayed by ... the noise of negative, nasty ads, they certainly can be influenced and affected if we don’t have any response for it.”

Yesterday, Huckabee also took the unusual move of criticizing Romney for his anti-abortion record, instead of keeping to his usual style of fending off Romney attacks. Huckabee was asked to explain those comments today. “If [Romney] wants to show contrast, let’s do it. And he can’t take me on on the pro-life issue because he knows nobody in the race is more consistently pro-life than me.”

“If I look at his record, first of all, he’s a recent convert to the pro-life position ... His healthcare plan has a $50 co-pay for an abortion, and that’s hardly a pro-life bill, and he could have vetoed that. He did veto in fact in his healthcare bill a provision that would have expanded Medicaid dental services, but he kept in the provision for abortion, and I think he’s got some explaining to do.”

A group of Arkansas legislators was trailing Romney today to, as Huckabee explained, “clarify my record” against a mailing that was “completely erroneous.” Huckabee estimated there were “several hundred” Arkansans who are “all over Iowa who have come to Iowa.” Huckabee said some came at their own expense; others had their expenses paid for by the campaign although no honorariums were given.

“I think they are going to be a very important resource for us,” he said. “If we don’t have the millions of dollars to spend on answering every ad, putting people in communities all over Iowa – telling the truth is going to be very helpful for us.”

Huckabee is the Dishonest one. Just as Dems smear everyone but themselves with the epithets that more appropriately suit them (the Dems), so does the Huckster. Coincidence? I think not.
BTW, it is now very difficult to post ot CBS. Apparently, they are applying their "free speech" philosphy to their posts as well as their other media outlets.
Here''s one they won''t let me post.
The liberal drive-by media continues to "spray lead" at the American public (who they think are naive and malleable) by trying to fool them into thinking sub par candidates like Huckabee, Paul and McCain have a snowball''s chance in Hell of gaining the Republican nomination.
Many of their "supporters are not even Republicans at all! ("Mrs. Spierer is a registered Democrat").
How sick and tired are the rational, logical, intelligent citizens of this country of listening to the drive-by media?

Romney''s claims are accurate. Has anyone heard Huck actually deny the ads? NO! For him (like Bill Clinton) it is all about the context and what the meaning of the word "is" is. FACT: He raised taxes alot. FACT: He pushed for benefits for adults living in this country illegally. FACT: He handed out more pardons than the three previous Governors combined. FACT: His record on ethics is horrible. If the ads are negative that is simply a reflection of Huckabee''s record. Calling Romney dishonest for telling voters the truth is an accurate reflection of who Huckabee is.

That question was a ridiculous question to expect an answer to. It''s like saying who do you love the most, your mother or father?

Don''t expect someone with integrity to answer something like that. Let''s ask the reporter, who do you love the most your mother or father? Can you truly answer that question?

Mike Huckabee performed brillently on "Meet the Press". He showed his is a man with integrity.

The American voters do not want to be purchased like a item on ebay, they want a candidate to earn their respect.

Phony Mitt Romney and 95 year old Rambler Fred Thompson want to buy your vote. All the do is waste their bases money ($60 million) on throwing stones at the other candidates.

Iowans have honor and integrity they will not stoop that low to be purchased by Mitt or Fred.

Iowans know honorable and respectable men like Mike Huckabee and John McCain when the see one.

Some pastor. Huckabee claimed to have a theology degree. A theology degree is a Masters Degree in Religion. He has a BA in religion. Talk about phony. He asks people to judge him on his record, but his gubernatorial records are not publicly available.
Electronic records were destroyed by his aides as he left office. And the paper records were donated to his college alma mater, which has not made them available. Reporters who are denied access are referred to Huckabee''s attorney, but the reporters can''t find his attorney (so far).

I do hope everybody remembers that Huck released a convicted rapist that subsequently murdered at least two people, all because the rape victim was a relative of Bill Clinton.

Huck: Making bad decisions for bad reasons.

America is a Democracy - We are not a Monarchy.
Wiser folks than us - saw to it long ago, that we be fortunate enough to realize this life blessing.
Nepotism may be fine for the old-corner-store but it will only serve to fail us again -as it has, most resoundingly, for the entirety of this millennium.

In a nation, 300 million strong, are we to believe that the person most suited to be the President just happens to be related to the last President ?!
Are we really to believe this is the case ?
Will we make this mistake, again ?

Barack Obama has the strength and certitude to take America in a new and positive direction - a direction that our evolving nation - being formed all around us all as we pass through our daily lives - very much is in need of. There really is an immediacy of the ''now'' that we all share. We truly must begin to think big again and to face the immense challenges before us in brave and selfless ways again - like those people in the old faded photographs on our walls did - for us. It really is time to wake up again America. The time is, most certainly, now.

Barack Obama for President of the United States of America.

It''s time for America to Rise and Shine again.

More Huck-a-BS.

"Vote for me, I''m the nice guy Huckabee that''s not going to attack that nasty, ''dishonest'' person. And I won''t attack his previous positions, including abortion. And I''m not going to ''go there'' and make a comment about his religion either. So there!"
Maybe they changed the definition of %u201Cwaffling%u201D but this sure seems like cooking on both sides.

I love the part of the article where Huckabee says "your good and I''m not, I''m not going to answer that." He should have stopped at, "...and I''m not."
