After 14 years of wearing the horse shoe helmet in Indianapolis, Peyton Manning - one of the NFL's most accurate and prolific quarterbacks of all time - is officially a free agent.

During an emotional press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Manning said: "I'll always be a Colt. That'll never change." While the sentiment is undoubtedly true, the business reality is not. The four-time league MVP, who turns 36 later this month, said that he wants to keep playing despite coming off a series of neck operations and missing all of last season.

New Orleans put a bounty on Manning for their defensive players to hurt Manning. That's how they won.

Any team would be nuts to hire a 36 year old QB who's had multiple surgeries on his neck. One good hit and it might end more than his career. What a gamble THAT would be.

Not sure why they say the Seahawks could be a good choice for him, that he will be able to stay on his feet with our offensive line! WHAT A JOKE, Jackson got creamed last year because the front line couldn't tackle or keep the defense from driving him down into the ground! Payton will be hurt if he comes to Seattle, I don't want him here anyways! WE NEED A REAL QB, one that will play for us for years to come!!!

The Colts say it is all business letting Peyton Manning go which allows them to renege on the 28 million he earned. I think it's pathetic. I don't remember any player bringing a mediocre football franchise into the national spotlight for so long like he has done then to be dumped unceremoniously.
Peyton increased the worth of the Colt's franchise by several times so why aren't they ponying up. Well I guess it proves once again that money is the overriding factor in professional sports while friendship, loyalty, integrity and honor used often in the NFL are just empty words tossed around like footballs, completely meaningless.

Tampa Bay thinks they have a quarterback, but they don't. Manning would be the ticket. Of course, so was Gruden and they fired him too. Only Superbowl winner anyone can remember from down here.
