Hiccups Gone, Valassis and News America Sign $500M Deal
The fat lady has sung! Despite a last minute freakout -- in which News America Marketing Group claimed Valassis (VCI) wasn't abiding by their agreement to settle a years-long war over control of the supermarket coupon market -- the $500 million deal is done. Here it is:
Now it's up to the FTC to decide whether a cabal of two ill-tempered ad agencies in a legal agreement with each other to share control of virtually every grocery coupon in the land is legal, from an antitrust point of view, or not.- Related:
