Congress to Investigate Alaskan Set Aside Contracts
The House of Representatives Small Business Committee will investigate the Small Business Associations (SBA) contract practices in Alaska. Federal Computer Week reports that problems have arisen with two companies winning Section 8A set aside contracts for Native Alaskan firms that were managed by non-natives. These two companies were awarded several million dollars worth of contracts. The Committee is concerned that the SBA does not have the right processes in place to do correct oversight. With any type of program such as this there is always a chance of abuse like this.
