FEMA Buys Wireless Communications

The U.S Government's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that it had signed a contract with AT&T to provide wireless communication capabilities. NewsOXY.com has a report on the award. The contract is worth about $50 million and will provide Blackberries and wireless laptop connections for the agency. FEMA responds to disasters internal to the United States and obviously good communications are a necessity for it to carry outs it mission. The initial contract is for one year with four option years. This is another good example of how much the government spends on a variety of goods and services.
