· Lamm enjoys the outdoors. A mountain climber, she has climbed 35 of ColoradoÂ's 54 Fourteeners. A Fourteener is a mountain peak over 14,000 feet in elevation. She also spends time skiing and scuba diving.
· Along with First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, Lamm was a delegate to the United Nations World Conference on Women in 1995.
· With her husband, former Colorado Governor and Reform Party Vice-Presidential candidate Richard Lamm, they founded Partnership for a Sustainable Century. The organization examines population and environmental issues associated with increased technology and the 21st century.
• Lamm is a breast cancer survivor. She went through a highly publicized bout in 1981 - and now in remission, she volunteers time to cancer programs.
· She has spent time as a teacher not only at the University of Denver and Dartmouth University but also on Colorado television.
· Lamm was one of the founding members of the WomenÂ's Foundation of Colorado. One of the primary goals of this foundation is to encourage the economic empowerment of women. The foundation has now grown to be the third largest of its kind in the nation.
· Her husband, Dick Lamm, was a former Democratic Governor of Colorado. He left the Democratic Party in 1996 to run against Ross Perot for the Reform party's presidential nomination. In addition to losing, he upset many Democrats who felt hwas hurting President ClintonÂ's re-election effort. Dottie distanced herself from her husband, and his politics, as much as she was able in order to make this run for the Senate.
· According to Dottie Lamm, Dick's role in the campaign is "to cook for his wife". After supporting her husband on the campaign trial, she is relying on him to take care of her. Aside from a few initial campaign appearances, Dick LammÂ's role in the race has been limited. He is lecturing around the country on campaign finance and health care reform.
