Va. Firefighters Die in Accident on Way to Fire

Two firefighters in Virginia have died after their fire truck collided with other vehicles on its way to a house fire. The Roanoke Times reports that one of the men killed was the Rocky Mount Fire Chief Posey Dillon. The other was firefighter William Daniel Altice.

Mayor Steve Angle of Rocky Mount, about 25 miles south of Roanoke, says the Monday afternoon crash is a devastating blow to the city.

State police say the fire truck hit an SUV and rolled several times before landing atop a car. The mayor says the firefighters were the truck's only two occupants.

At least one injured crash victim was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition.
