Will the dry spell end for DFW? Above average temps and rain chances increase this week
We'll start the work week with the same warm weather we enjoyed over the weekend. We could hit 90° on Tuesday.
It's been over 150 days since we've been in the 90s. The very warm March continues.
It's been two weeks since the last measurable rain at DFW and 52 days since the last 1" rain. Much-needed spring rain finally returns to the forecast by mid-week. This would help our persistent fire risk considerably.
It starts on Wednesday as a cold front moves in from the northeast and dissipates over North Texas. There is a chance for some strong storms by mid-day.
The better chances of widespread rain and storms arrive Thursday and Friday from the south. The Texas Rangers Home Opener is on Thursday. It is too early to tell yet if these storms could be severe. Some decent rain is being forecast.
As dry as it has been, 3" of rain could lead to a local flooding threat. There is already a moderate risk of flooding issued for a large swath of Texas including our area.
Above-normal temperatures continue despite the multiple rain chances ahead. March ends a week from Monday, we could end up with a top ten warmest month at this rate.
