DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - If you heard sirens going off in the North Dallas/Richardson area Wednesday morning, rest assured it was an accident.
The City of Dallas was doing maintenance on its outdoor warning sirens about 8 am, and accidentally set them off citywide.
Dallas spokesperson Sana Sayed says those sirens were scheduled to go off later today, they just went off four hours before schedule.
The sirens are tested every month on the first Wednesday at noon. The city will not test them again today.
As Major Max Geron with Dallas Police said on Twitter, there is no zombie apocalypse this time.
#BREAKING No zombie apocalypse (this time) MT @DallasOEM: Dallas is performing maint on Outdoor Warning Sirens. Sirens went off in error.
