Warmer temperatures greet North Texans after chilly mornings

Strong southern wind brings low rain chance to North Texas

We have turned the corner to this cold start to December. Since December 2000, this is currently the fifth coldest start to the month at the halfway point. This all changes in the second half of the month as it warms up for the holiday.

Rain has been rare so far this month, with only 0.06" of rain recorded at DFW. Some light rain is around on Wednesday, mostly in the morning.

Despite the clouds, a south wind means another warm day. We'll again top out in the 60s, like Tuesday.

A cold front comes through on Thursday and brings a small rain chance across our eastern countieson Wednesday. It also brings a brisk north wind.

Temperatures will climb into the 60s, but lows on Friday morning are in the mid-30s.

That appears to be the best shot of cold air for a while. The long-range modeling shows very warm conditions.

Right now, it appears Christmas will be in the 70s for only the 18th time in the record history, 1898-2024. Only two of those ended up in the 80s, including the record warmest one in 2021, which was the warmest December ever.

It looks like a chance for a White Christmas is limited to how far you want to drive north.
