WACO (AP) — A Central Texas police officer has been indefinitely suspended following his arrest after being accused of assaulting a suspect earlier this year.

The Waco Tribune-Herald reports Officer George Neville's suspension came after an internal review by the Waco Police Department.

Neville, an 11-year-member of the police department, was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge in August. He is accused of grabbing the throat 35-year-old Qualon Deshon Weaver while he was handcuffed during a traffic stop in May.

The internal investigation cleared two other officers involved in Weaver's stop and arrest of criminal wrongdoing. However, each received a five-day suspension.

The newspaper reports that no formal charges had been filed against Neville in municipal court as of Tuesday and the misdemeanor assault charge remains pending.
