DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Annette Gonzales-Taylor and Maria Beltran knew they would be near Pope Francis during his visit to Washington, D.C. What they didn't know is he would stop and offer them a greeting. And it's a greeting they will cherish for the rest of their lives.

Gonzales-Taylors, and Beltran both work for the Catholic Diocese of Dallas and are working a special detail at the dinning hall where the Pope blessed food for hundreds of homeless people.

As he walked in Gonzales-Taylor who works as the director of communications for the diocese asked Pope Francis for a blessing. He stopped, and responded.

Gonzales-Taylor said "He put his hand on my head and held my hand and gave me a little blessing. So as you can see it was very emotional for me, and my daughter was like Mom why didn't you get a selfie?"

She may not have taken a selfie but her co-worker Maria Beltran did. She was ready with her smartphone as the Pope walked past her.

Beltran said "That's the dream of all Catholics to get close," about her chance encounter with the Pontiff.

Both of them said it's a memory that was unexpected and truly special.

Gonzales-Taylor added, "He took my hand and his hand was so warm. That's the thing I remember how warm his hand was."
