Dallas (CBSDFW.COM) - Students from Dallas' Skyline High School are tops in Texas in mock trial. Team member Evangelina Rivera knows what makes her team winners. "What sets Skyline apart from other schools, we have a passion for it and we invest our time, not because we have too, or getting a grade, but because we love it."

The students are part of Skyline's Career Cluster. The cluster focuses on law, political science and psychology. Mock trial demonstrates the ins and outs of the courtroom. Their preparation for winning was as intense as a game on the gridiron. "I think the difference between the first place and second place team this year was who wanted it more." said Regina Campbell, a team member.

Winning isn't new for the Skyline team. For the past 13 years, they've won eight district championships. Next, nationals.

The students play every role from witness, to prosecutor to defense attorney and more.

Mock trial isn't just pretend. Its a sport in the game of life for these students and their futures.
