Wind and rain could make the tomorrow's commute messy
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Make sure you secure any outdoor patio furniture, outdoor decorations, and your trash/recycling bins, it will be gusty on Tuesday.
Winds are expected out of the SSW at 20-30 mph, gusting up to 50 mph! Needless to say, a wind advisory will go into effect at 9 PM tonight.
It's going to be a rainy morning, as well. We're expecting everyone in North Texas to at least see a little rain between midnight and 9 AM Tuesday. Showers should start to increase in coverage after midnight, and a weak line of storms will move through North Texas for the morning drive.
The overall severe threat with this line of storms is low. Rainfall amounts of a quarter to a half inch of rain are possible but this will be quick moving, so flooding isn't a major concern. Some brief gusty winds and lightning are expected.
By the afternoon it'll be like nothing happened though. A sunny, windy and warm Valentine's Day!
However, what goes up must come down.
A strong cold front arriving late Wednesday will not only knock temperatures down significantly by Thursday, but it'll also bring the chance for some stronger storms.
Parts of North Texas are highlighted for a slight risk but there will be a strong cap, so this threat is conditional. If the cap erodes enough for storms to overcome it, all types of severe weather will be possible.
It will be drastically colder by Thursday afternoon. Highs are expected in the 40s and "feels-like" temps will be in the 30s. All four seasons in one week…yay Texas!
