DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Nine hundred students packed the auditorium at Moises E. Molina High School in Dallas for a big announcement. The high-energy pep rally style event kicked off a new program for students in North Texas. Now they are pumped about their future and how to pay for a college education may no longer be an obstacle.

The Ford Motor Company Fund and North Texas Ford Dealers are investing $800,000 in North Texas students. Of that $350,000 is designated to scholarships. Seniors at Molina are being encouraged to apply for a Ford Driving Dreams Scholarship.

Alondra Ortiz is planning to attend UT Austin in the fall. She says it'll be hard for her without a scholarship. "Getting this money would mean a lot to me considering that my parents won't be able to help me pay for college."

Jim Vella, president of the Ford Motor Company Fund said, "It's real important for young kids in high school to know that there is somebody out there that cares about what they do and what they do matters."

More than $10,000 in scholarships has been set aside just for Molina students.

Vella said, "When kids have dreams and they can see and get some help and make that dream become real they are more likely to stay in school and graduate on time and that's really important."

The Ford Motor Company Fund scholarships will be given out in May.
