The layout of Rockwall makes it an ideal choice for triathlons.
Staci Brod with Play-Tri is a race director for the US Open Triathlon on October 17th. Rockwall has hosted the amateur race for several years.
There are three different distances...the Olympic, or the intermediate. The longest is a 1500 meter swim in the calm waters on the east side of Lake Ray Hubbard at the marina of Rockwall Harbor, a 22 mile bike and a 10k run.
The sprint and super sprint are shorter...and if you thought you couldn't do it...think again!
Some of those taking part are really top notch athletes...as in the 2024 Olympic games. The US Open isn't the only triathlon the city hosts...they've also held the 'Tri Rock' and the 'Dirty Rock' in the past.
