AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) - The Texas Department of Public Safety identified a man who was arrested Saturday for allegedly stealing an ambulance in the Austin area and driving it to Killeen.

DPS charged David Oliver III for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest with a motor vehicle.

Authorities said a DPS trooper located a possible stolen ambulance from the Austin area and attempted a traffic stop.

Oliver, the driver of the ambulance, refused to stop and traveled to the city of Killeen.

Authorities said the ambulance eventually stopped without incident and Oliver was taken into custody. There were no other occupants in the ambulance.

DPS said Oliver was released to Bell County Jail after charges were made.
