GALVESTON (CBSDFW.COM) — Over the weekend, the U.S. Coast Guard suspended a search in the Gulf of Mexico for a passenger from North Texas who went missing from the Carnival Liberty cruise ship. Today that ship returned to port in Galveston.

The Carnival Liberty arrived without Samantha Broberg, the 33-year-old Arlington mother fell off the ship Friday and has not been seen since.

The Coast Guard worked around the clock since Saturday trying to find Broberg. Despite near perfect conditions for search and rescue operations the Coast Guard was unable to find her and suspended the search Sunday night. A Coast Guard statement said crews searched for 20 hours and covered more than 4,300 square miles.

Carnival says video shows Broberg climbing up and sitting on a railing on the 10th floor of the ship, then falling over backward into the Gulf at 3 a.m. Friday. However she was not reported missing by her companions for several hours and the Coast Guard did not start looking for Broberg until 15 hours after she fell overboard.

Broberg's family says Samantha is a mother to four children.

The Carnival Liberty arrived back in Galveston, from the four-day Mexican cruise, around eight o'clock this morning.
