I-30 back open in East Fort Worth 8 hours after crash involving two 18-wheelers

FORT WORTH – A crash involving two 18-wheelers closed I-30 at East Loop 820 for 8 hours on Tuesday.

The crash was reported just after 6 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-30 between East Loop 820 and Cooks Lane. By 7 a.m., traffic was backed up for about five miles.

Traffic was forced off on East Loop 820 while the accident scene was cleared. Some drivers traveling from Fort Worth to Arlington and Dallas saw delays of over one hour. Traffic started flowing again around 2 p.m.

A CBS News Texas camera at the scene showed the two 18-wheelers in the median with front-end damage. Both appeared to be carrying gravel.

There was no information about the condition of the drivers or passengers, but at least one person was taken by CareFlite to a local hospital.
