FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The rainy weather on Thursday morning slowed down crews that responded to a crash involving a big rig in Fort Worth. The incident happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate-35W near the split off to Highway 121.

Police said that the driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a barrier wall. The impact forced the big rig to roll over. But officials added that the weather and slick roadways were not a factor in the crash. Rather, the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

That driver was not seriously injured, but the crash created a traffic nightmare in the early morning hours. It took place at about 2:45 a.m. and workers were still sorting through the mess hours later.

The truck was carrying frozen food -- 38,000 pounds of Brussels sprouts, to be exact -- which had to first be unloaded before the vehicle could be moved. Crews then used a crane to upright the big rig and a large tow truck removed it from the scene.

Drivers in the Fort Worth area on Thursday morning should expect major delays due to the crash. Check out the traffic map for the latest updates and alternate routes.
