Bailey Sets Cowboys Record With 28 Consecutive Field Goals

ST. LOUIS (CBSDFW.COM) -- September 29, 2013. That's the last time Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey missed a field goal.

The distance -- 56 yards.

Bailey set a team record on Sunday, hitting a 40-yard field goal to convert on his 28th consecutive attempt.

"Honestly, [the record] was the furthest thing from my mind," said Bailey after the game. "It was an exciting game. There were so many other things to think about."

The field goal shaved the Rams lead to 21-20 late in the third quarter. Bailey had earlier converted from 29-yards out to match Chris Boniol's team record of 27-straight makes.

During the streak, Bailey has been a perfect 5-for-5 from 50+ yards. He's also never missed an extra point, hitting all 131 in his four-year career.

Stephen Jones joined the G-Bag Nation last week and discussed the importance of Bailey, who Dallas extended through 2020 earlier this year.

"You have to give Dan a lot of credit," said Jones. "We think he's one of the best kickers in the league. We obviously signed him up longterm, and we're glad to have him."
