NEXT Drive Alert: Overnight snow could make for messy Monday morning commute

NEXT Weather: 5:30 p.m. report for Minnesota on Feb. 2, 2025

MINNEAPOLIS — A NEXT Drive Alert is in place for late Sunday through Monday morning for snow.

Snow is expected to start falling in western Minnesota at about 9 p.m Sunday and exit western Wisconsin about noon Monday.

Snowfall amounts across central Minnesota will be 2-4 inches with isolated 6 inch amounts. Snow rates of 0.5 inches per hour are possible. Winter weather advisories are also in place across central Minnesota. Part of the Twin Cities advisory is from midnight to 9 a.m. Monday morning.

This would be our first snowfall over 1 inch since Dec. 19 and it will impact the Monday morning commute.

Temperatures tumble Monday with highs staying in the teens and 20s — closer to average — for all of the week. Overnight lows will be in the teens and single digits.

Tuesday will be even chillier with highs in the teens.

Another chance of light snow is possible Wednesday then again next Saturday as a more unsettled pattern takes shape.
