Mild and gloomy stretch continues through Christmas in Minnesota

Christmas Eve will be mild with mostly cloudy skies, with afternoon temperatures reaching the upper 30s.

Fog is possible overnight into Christmas, with a fog advisory in place until 9 a.m. Thursday for southwestern Minnesota.

Christmas Day will feel pretty similar to Christmas Eve, but there could be some light rain in the Twin Cities, with some freezing drizzle to the north. Winds will be slightly stronger, with gusts up to 20 mph.

Highs will remain in the upper 30s on Friday and will even climb into the 40s on Saturday before another system moves in late in the evening into Sunday.

Colder air will arrive Sunday and linger into early next week, with temperatures topping out in the teens. Winds on Sunday afternoon could gust up to 40 mph, pushing wind chills near minus 15 degrees.

Expect a mix of sun and clouds, no major storms and more seasonable temperatures to end 2025 next week.
