Train Strikes Man In Berkeley, Autopsy Ruled Death A Suicide
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 75-year-old man who was struck by a train Sunday afternoon in west suburban Berkeley committed suicide, an autopsy Monday revealed.
Officers responded at 12:28 p.m. to a call of a person struck by a train in the Union Pacific rail yard at 301 W. Lake St., according to Berkeley Police Sgt. Thomas Duffy.
Richard C. Lai, 75, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He lived in the 400 block of East Butterfield Road in Elmhurst.
An autopsy Monday determined Lai died of multiple injuries and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
