Vehicle hits, critically hurts pedestrian in Cicero, Illinois, police say

A pedestrian was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car early Thursday morning in Cicero, Illinois.

The crash happened around 1:15 a.m. in the 2500 block of South Cicero Avenue.

Cicero police said a man, whose age was not released, was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

The vehicle's driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. 

CTA buses were rerouted as Cicero Avenue from Cermak through 25th Street was closed for investigation. The roads reopened around 6 a.m., and the buses have resumed their normal routes.
