Takata executive: Our airbags "save lives"
Takata Corp. defied a U.S. safety agency's demand for a nationwide recall of driver's side air bags, senior executive Hiroshi Shimizu said during a hearing before the House Energy and Commerce Committee examining the airbag failures, setting the stage for possible legal action by the government and leaving some drivers to wonder about the safety of their cars.
