Almanac: When interracial marriage bans were struck down

Forty-nine years ago today the United States Supreme Court unanimously struck down laws in 16 states that banned interracial marriage. Chief Justice Earl Warren wrote: "The freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual, and cannot be infringed by the State." Charles Osgood reports.
