Former Major Leaguer Jose Canseco, pictured here in a 1988 American League Championship game, has a new book out -- "Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big" -- about the use of steroids in major league baseball. In it, he names names, including some of the following players and sports figures, most of whom have denied his claims.
Mark McGwire
St. Louis Cardinals slugger Mark McGwire watches his 65th home run of the season in a home game against the Chicago Cubs Oct. 3, 1999. Canseco says he and McGwire used steroids together and that he would sometimes inject McGwire. McGwire has denied this.
Rafael Palmiero
The Texas Rangers' Rafael Palmeiro shown on Aug. 16, 1999, in Cleveland. Canseco claims he injected Palmiero. Palmeiro, now playing for Baltimore, disputed the claim, and told Congress, "I have never used steroids. Period." Palmiero later tested positive under the league's new testing policy. A congressional committee later announced it does not have enough evidence to pursue perjury charges.
Ivan Rodriguez
Texas Rangers Ivan Rodriguez rounds third base following a fourth-inning solo homer, June 21, 2002, in Pittsburgh. Canseco claims he injected Rodriguez. Rodriguez also denied the charges.
Juan Gonzalez
Former Texas Ranger Juan Gonzalez hits a double against the Detroit Tigers during the first inning in Arlington, Texas, Aug. 26, 1998. Canseco claims he injected Gonzalez. Gonzalez's agent said his client, now with Detroit, has never used steroids.
George W. Bush
George W. Bush talks to reporters at Arlington Stadium in Texas on April 18, 1989, after both the American and National League owners approved the sale of the Texas Rangers to a group headed by Mr. Bush and Edward M. Rose III. Canseco claims steroid use was so rampant on the Rangers that Mr. Bush, now the U.S. president, should have known about it. The White House denies this.
Jason Giambi
New York Yankees' Jason Giambi and Tampa Bay Devil Rays catcher Toby Hall, left, watch Giambi's first inning three-run homer off Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitcher Mark Hendrickson Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at New York's Yankee Stadium. Conseco called Giambi the most obvious user in baseball. Giambi has admitted to a grand jury that he used steroids.
