in Coeur d'Alene, Kiana Sandusky, a youth pastor in town, and her husband Jason, were kind enough to give Dave a warm black winter coat. But in his haste to head east, Dave left the coat behind at the hotel where he'd been working as a housekeeper.
Dave wears his first coat in Anchorage, Alaska. Dave ripped a three-inch gash in this coat during his travels. Later, he left this coat in a car. He spent much of his trip experiencing extremely cold temperatures without a heavy coat.
Reed Jones, proprietor of The Earth's Crust Pizza in Belgrade, Mont., offered Dave a job making pizza, and showed up at the airport with jackets to help out with Dave's coat drive, which was inspired by an email from a viewer. The viewer offered Dave $600 in exchange for his best effort to collect coats for the needy. Dave took him up on the offer and is now collecting as many coats as he can to give away.
